Jimmy Hyams on the Sports Animal is saying that UT has denied Bryce's appeal for a scholly release. Arthur (Bryce's Dad) is saying he's going to appeal thru the NCAA and that he's planning to file a law suit against CDD (and maybe the university?) regardless.
What basis could he have for a lawsuit? Once he signs his LOI releasing an athlete is pretty much at the school's discretion. Any lawyers in the house with the ability to clarify?
Suing in this situation is preposterous on its own. Couple that with the fact that Dooley is an attorney and I imagine has already thought about this, and it does nothing but further taint Brown as being a drama-queen, deserved or not.
If Arthur wanted his boys close to home, he should have insisted on them going to Kansas State coming out of high school. If Bryce goes to the NFL, how will he make sure he goes to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Didn't provide that much detail. But I think it goes back to the "hardships" issue with deaths in the family and a relative with prostate cancer. They pointed out on the show, however, that both deaths in the family happened BEFORE BB signed his LOI. So, that really shouldn't be a factor.
I have no idea how they would have a leg to stand on in a law suit. As others have said, once the contract is signed, it's at the school's discretion to decide who gets a release and what the parameters are.
I almost wish CDD would give him a release just to make this stupid distraction to go away... It's going to be more bad press b/c I'm sure ESPN is going to have it front-page as soon as they get wind of it.
I like that Dooley is making an example of Bryce. Dooley is saying that if you sign a LOI with Tennessee, you better be ready to stay and be dedicated to UT. No changing your mind after the fact.
