Go Navy, Beat Army

Saturday marks a newly accomplished feat for Army-Navy’s rivalry game — the 125th meeting between the two programs.

Both teams had resurgent-like seasons, each starting 5-0 for the first time since 1945 and securing bowl eligibility in the same year for the first time since 2017.

Navy went on a rampage for most of the 21st century in this series, winning 14 straight matchups from 2002 to 2015. However, Army has made things interesting in recent years, beating the Midshipmen in the last two meetings — games that were either determined in overtime or the last few seconds.

With the last three matchups separated by just 13 points total and both programs bowl bound, another tight one could be expected.

Was Army ever able to qualify for the playoffs? Their season isn’t even over and the teams are selected.
