Arkansas fans,

There are rumors floating around that David Cutcliffe's name is poping up as a candidate for your soon to be open HFC position. This would be a HUGE loss for the Vol Nation if you were to possibly score on that hire because this man has a reputation for grooming 1st round NFL quarterbacks and running some of the most prolific offenses this conference has EVER seen. The turn around that he was able to perform on Erik Ainge has been nothing short of a miracle. He turned a shaken and broken QB from the 2005 season into one of the top 3 quarterbacks in the SEC East. He has turned this offense around to the point that we have shown steady improvement in our offensive productivity. He was wrongly faulted (and fired) from Ole Miss after 1 losing season, and Ole Miss is still suffering the consequences of that mistake 3 seasons later. If that isn't enough to convince you of how valuable this man is to any program he is involved with, consider the fact that Charlie Weiss of Notre Dame made it a point to make Cutcliffe one of his first hires. Imagine the productivity ND would have right now had Cutcliffe been able to stick around and groom quarterbacks such as Quinn and Clausen. To an extent, you can say that Cutcliffe's absence from ND has made just as big of an impact on their program as it has on the Rebels.

David Cutcliffe has been a savior to our program. Right now, things our out of my control and the rest of Tennessee fans here on Rocky Top. We hope that this treasure continues to perform at a high level here in Knoxville and lead us to more SEC championships in the not too distant future. But if he decides to take that next step in his life and pursue a coaching position at your fine university (or anywhere else), I believe that I speak for most REAL Vols fans when I say that I wish David Cutcliffe well and hope he finds happiness in whatever path that he chooses outside of our program.

Sincerely,

oh well....if he goes to Arkansas, at least we'll know what play he's running.

Is he actively looking for another HC position? Didnt he have health concerns at the end of his tenure at Ole Miss? That was the WORST coach firing in the history of college football.

It was probably the worst firing in the past 30 years of NCAA football...

Arkansas would be a considerable upgrade from Ole Miss, but I just cannot see them hiring Cutt.

I would not shed a tear if he left. Thanks for the dedication he showed to UT but that's about it.

Cutcliffe not looking for a head coaching job would be as big of a mistake as Ole Miss firing. With the instability and uncertainty surrounding the UT staff, he'd be a fool not to bail out for a SEC head coaching job if he had a chance.

:thumbsup:I agree, great QB coach, a good OC, not a great OC. With the QB's we have in the stable now, if this happens Coach Fulmer goes out and gets the best available. And does not stay in family, aka Randy Sanders.

...and after an exhaustive, extensive, nationwide search for the best available OC, Fulmer hires Kurt Roper as OC.

I'm a little slow, but was this written 'tongue in cheek'? Yeah, he groomed two (2) 1st-round NFL quarterbacks that were born with the necessary bloodlines. And prolific offense? WOW!!

I agree that Peyton and Eli had this QB thing in their blood, but the only reason we got Peyton was Cut and the only reason we lost Eli was because of Cut.... The Manning family are very devoted to this guys...Also don't get me wrong I really like him, I think he did a great job last year at coaching and play calling but concerns me in the 2007 season wiyh his choices..

No real debate here. Cut is a nice guy, but sometimes nice guys don't always 'cut it.' :tease2:

Did someone steal TVA's login? This is a different person - way too reasonable.

How are we going to get rid of Cutcliffe if we don't at least convince some other school to consider him for a head coaching position? If we talk him up and convince a few people that he's the best man for their job, then it may create enough buzz for some AD to take a stab at him.

UT IE, please... join in and sing your praises of Coach Cutcliffe. Your input would be greatly appreciated in this thread.

I've given my opinion of Cut many times. I hope he's around at least one more season. Then I'm open for change.

I wasn't a fan of bringing him back in the first place. But he has brought a level of professionalism back. Look at our offensive penalties and sacks. That is a direct result of discipline that we didn't have under RS.
