How does everyone feel about this game? I know Vegas opened us up as a 7.5 favorite but what is the feel from Volnation?

My biggest questions are:
1) will we attempt to have some sort of passing attack?
2) will we quit sending on three guys on 3rd and 4th and long plays?
AND
3) How many yards will we allow on the ground?

It could get ugly, this is a terrible match up for Tennessee because conservative play calling will keep the defense on the field.

they have an atrocious secondary that we wont take advantage of though. We prob wont throw more than 10 times lol.

Let me check the chart...

Yeah, chances with this coaching staff aren't good against anyone in the conference.

I will say this. If the following happens, I won't be mad:

1. We get up by 2 scores
2. We keep the playcalling aggressive, trusting Dobbs to make throws downfield
4. Dobbs throws an INT(s) and we lose the game

At least we'll have gone down swinging. That's all I want to see from this coaching staff.

BOTTOM LINE: Trust your players on offense. If they can't get it done, so be it. If we have to lose, let it be because of the players rather than the coaching.

Sure hope we win but I can understand not believing we will. Hard to have faith after seeing coaching decisions being made that are very questionable at the least.
I want it for the players who give their all for Tennessee...every day.

GO VOLS!

Yes, exactly. I agree with Butch, they are young. The way to let them grow is to give them the opportunity to mess up and learn from it. If not, they will stay young, and then when they need to perform a 2 minute drill for a win and they make a mistake, Butch will say they didn't execute. Dobbs has not thrown a pass over 30yards in the air all season and we are coming up on week 5.

Makes me wonder how winning the East was a serious expectation for Butch.

I think we win this fairly easily. We are at home against a team on a three game losing streak including a home loss to Toledo. I think Debord could run post routes on their secondary.Their offense is even more predictable than ours. Arkansas is in shambles.
The only real mystery in this matchup is how this is Bielema's wife.

We are more than a TD favorite for a reason. This will be a Butch-Jones-feel-good-special kind of game.

We have to move the ball well vs Arkansas. The longer we have the ball on offense the better the D will play. They are an old school team, they are going to pound the football. Shy and KM need a big showing. This is their style of football. I'm looking for a complete turn around from last week (if everyone is healthy).

these are two dumpster fires of programs right now. i would imagine the pucker factor for both teams headed in to this one will be high. there aren't two teams on the planet that need THIS win more than these two teams.

this week, it's a mental game. who will let last week's loss, or cumulative losses, beat them this week?

on paper, i think we're better than they are right now. but neither team has showed they know how to win.

big time "show me" game. the loser of this game, could have their season spiral down the drain, quickly. this is a must win, for both teams.

I watched some of the Arkansas game on saturday night and they ran the ball up the gut against TAM.

Not sure we can beat this bunch.

We are a bad match up for them. They struggle against running QB's and tall wideouts. Plus they have Brandon Allen who can't make a play when it counts in the 4th quarter. Who knows what will happen in the 4th quarter...

I think the chances of a win are greater if UT trails by 10 to start the 4th qtr than if they lead by 10. If Jones is allowed, again, to coach not to lose... then UT is almost certain to lose.

both of these teams have found ways to lose. how they've executed and played hasn't netted any positive result. so while both teams have things they can look to and "feel good about", neither team has done anything to expect to win because of this or that.

i'm sure the Arkansas fans are feeling a lot like we are.

we have no idea what to expect. doubtful they do either.

God help us if it is tied in the fourth! Neither team may ever win! The game could go on forever.

So? What makes you think Jones is going to start utilizing UT's WR talent now?

Here's what will happen unless Jones changes.... and if Bielema isn't the worst coach in football. Allen will flounder... Jones will run the ball 3 times and punt. Allen will flounder... Jones will run 3 times and punt against 8 men in the box. This will repeat until Arkansas gains all of the momentum and finds a way to win.

Same as OU... same as UF.

I think we can win this one, if a certain LB does NOT get the start again! :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:
