I'm not dwelling on anything. Butch won nine games twice at tennessee and took over from friggin Dooley. Did Butch need to go? Yes. But what improvement are you speaking of? The last year of Butch showed he needed to go. Were you a Butch supporter at the time? Are you saying improvement based on the results of Butch's last season and his last season alone? But it IS.
Do you understand that was the beginning of the season?
We beat MSU, UK, USC, VAN, MIZZOU, UAB all at later dates. Almost all of those teams are better than BYU or Ga State who we lost to earlier in the year. YES. That is the definition of improvement.

Butch? He's gone. He was 4-8 his last season and struggled developing players.
Pruitt and his "disastrous " coaching staff have yielded 5 Freshman All-Americans over his two seasons. A 1st team All-Conference safety and 5 overall players on All-Conference teams this season.

This is the CURRENT situation.
CURRENTLY on a 5 game win streak.
CURRENTLY preparing for a bowl game, when we haven't bowled in 2 seasons.
CURRENTLY have a top 10 or 15 recruiting class that is not yet complete.

That is the CURRENT situation. So I chose to focus on that REALITY. Why?? Because I love the Tennessee Vols.

Why would I spend my time complaining about stuff that can't be changed?

Completely changing both the offensive and defensive philosophies and the necessary personnel changes to go along with it takes time. To be honest, I'm a bit surprised in how quickly Pruitt has been able to change it up. On top of it all, he has had to change the mentality of the team and getting the kids to buy in sometimes NEVER happens. Our team may need some players, but they are getting tough - both mentally and physically. That is something that I haven't seen here in a while. That sounds like improvement to me.

Cite the improvement outside of this recruiting class. Which I have been steadfast in that I believe is a great step. Besides that, what is the improvement? Fewer turnovers against Florida? Playing closer with Alabama? Beating a wounded USC team? Keeping it close with BYU? Praise is earned not deserved. I have given plenty of praise to CJP for this recruiting cycle. The recruiting cycle also could still improve. But as I have said again and again and again, and what is conveniently ignored by people who attack me is that CJP was not left an empty cupboard. He was not left in a situation where he shouldn't be able to beat the bottom feeders of the conference. He was not left in a situation where he should lose to GA State and BYU. He was not left in a situation where he should be humiliated by UF (whose team was in a very similar situation) for two years straight. His first two seasons on the field have been awful. If you are content with beating vandy, usc, uk, and mizzou then I'm glad. I am not. Those shouldn't have been measuring sticks year one much less year two.

So please. Cite to me the "significant improvement"

It is you who are in a “no logic zone”. If you cannot see statistically or by observing the on field progress especially with the defense or OL then there is not much hope for you. As far as being proud , I am proud of all 7 wins and even the games against Georgia/Alabama because we were competitive at times in those games when I thought we would not be.

Its not hard to understand. I wish we had won every game, JG was gonna be the Heisman winner, we had the #1 offense and #1 defense, Pruitt was National CotY, we were ranked #1 and getting ready for the playoffs.

But we're not. We have a coach that's in his second year as a HC in the SEC. He's learning on the job and took over a pretty big mess. He probably shouldn't have been hired....but he was.

This is where we are. Not where we should be or want to be. Like it or don't like it we're all in the same boat.

You can either suck it up and enjoy the ride, or CRY about it.

Tennessee has improved, you are wrong. Changing the mentality in the locker room has happened. Pruitt has incorporated a winning mentality. Proud of the goal line stand at Kentucky.
Recruiting isn't about stars, its about filling needs. Last years recruits contributed and if this class is the same, the purge of the Butch mentality is real.
Offensive staff with Chaney, Winke, Martin etc have shown the players are getting to a point to understand their system. Hope we keep them
Last loss was a long time ago, 6 out of the last 7 were wins. Hell yes proud to get wins. Last year they were L's.
