I don't want the game this kid had to be overshadowed by the loss tonight. When called upon, he manned up. The monster kick return not withstanding, his rushing and receiving games were well tuned. He looked like a new back to me. I don't see how you don't continue to call upon this Volunteer ... even with Coker returning. Thoughts?

Arian had a solid game tonight, no doubt about it.

And that's all I got to say about that.

He looked much faster than previously. We were wondering why Hardesty wasn't playing, but why take Foster out when he was looking like he did against those terrible Vandy and UK teams a couple of years back? haha

He definitely deserves kudos for a game well played. It's going to be impossible to keep Coker off of the field though.

His top speed wasn't killer...but the kid had some killer acceleration, which yielded great results.....and he showed some very nice moves (what an awesome touchdown)

His stiff arm was also alive and well.

Yeah, he's not a speedster by any means, but like you said, the acceleration to get to his top level is what was surprising.

He looked to have developed a nice stiff arm too.

Ainge and Foster played ok. UT would have had to score 50 pts to beat Cal. UT doesn't have that kind of offense unfortunately.

Someone said it on another thread.....when we think of UT scoring 31 points, we think of winning every time.

I saw a stat on espn.com earlier today that said Tennessee is 30-0 when scoring 30 or more points since 2001 and 44-8 when scoring 20 or more.

There that goes.

foster was all good except for the one play where he was lookin bak to give a stiff arm than reach the end zone... he slowed down to give an arm and he was pulled down at the 5... other than that he had a wonderful game...

Yeah...I remember the exact play you are talking about. He had the end-zone there I'm pretty sure..but it did seem like he was looking to knock off the next guy. In some ways...that just showed the confidence he had in his new stiff arm .. he looked good tonight.

Foster played very well today. No real problems other than a couple of drops on some tough catches.

Kudos to A. Foster. I thought he played a solid game. He had what, 80 or 90 yds rushing, maybe 20 yds recieving and another 90 to 100 on kickoff returnns.

He had a great game but when he got caught from behind when any one of our other backs would have scored ticked me off. LC would have scored and we would have been kicking the extra point.and to top that off, We didn't even score

The thing that impressed me were his post game comments. He is all class:

On the SEC vs. the Pac-10:
"I don't want to get into all of that. That's not what this is all about. I can't take anything away from Cal. They played a great game tonight and they came out victorious and we didn't. They were the better team tonight and it showed."

On the uncharacteristic performance of the defense:
"Football is a funny game. You have good nights and you have bad nights. Our defense had a bad night out there. This is our team. Sometimes, our offense has bad nights. There are times when we can't put points on the board and they help us out. Today, we had a couple of drives where we couldn't score so there's no finger pointing. This is a team effort. We all got a `T' on our helmet."

On having to score 40 or more points to stay with Cal:
"We didn't go into the game like that. We came in with a plan of execution. We never think that we have to do this or that because they're like this or that. We never think like that as a team."

Arian Foster is officially my new hero. Definitely going to get a number 27 jersey today.

I've never been a big Foster guy, but dude showed me sumthin. That fumble vs Penn State burned like you have no idea...since I live here in PA...but if he really has his game tuned to the next level, we have a stable once again.

Foster had a great game. OL played better. Great game by the offense last night. Either D is weaker or CAL is that good. Guess we'll find out next week.

Cal's passing game is that good. The only way we were going to beat it was with pressure on Longshore. The question is .. is our D-line that bad or their O-line that good? It could be a bit of both.

Foster played amazing. He would have had over 100 yds if we weren't playing catchup the whole second half.

I loved the way Arian ran in the scrimmages.
I told everybody he was gona be a positive this year.

Absolutely. Very impressed with Foster. Looked like a different player compared to last year. Hopefully he can play like this all season and hopefully it wasn't just a bad Cal defense... but he didn't look this good against Cal last year.
