Following up with the tweet between Virginia Vol and Rennia Davis - my question as a boarder to boarders (experts and semi-think we are experts) - what would you hope/expect to be the TWO areas that each of the players are focusing on currently. and obviously the freshmen are just that.

Keyen Green, forward, senior
“Kasi” Kushkituah, senior
Jaiden McCoy, senior (has stated her last year)
Jordan Walker, guard, junior
Rae Burrell, forward, junior
Jordan Horston, sophomore
Tamari Key, post, sophomore
Jessie Rennie, sophomore
Emily Saunders,sophomore
Tess Darby, freshman
Destiny Salary, guard/wing,

Keyen Green, forward, senior Never seen her play, so health and post moves
“Kasi” Kushkituah, senior Speed and athleticism
Jaiden McCoy, senior Athleticism, defensive versatility in the post and perimeter
Jordan Walker, guard, junior Learning offense, 3p shooting
Rae Burrell, forward, junior 3p shooting, turnover management
Jordan Horston, sophomore 3p shooting, turnover management
Tamari Key, post, sophomore Post moves - drop step, jump hook, and baseline reverse
Jessie Rennie, sophomore Defense - stay in front and threaten the ball (big year coming for her)
Emily Saunders,sophomore Post moves - drop step, jump hook, and baseline reverse
Tess Darby, freshman Defense - stay in front and threaten the ball
Destiny Salary, guard/wing, Become our defensive "stopper", 3p shooting
Marta Suarez, 6-2 Defense - stay in front and threaten the ball

Rennia Davis, forward, senior : Mid-range shooting,,,being a little more demonstrative and vocal in leadership on the court
Keyen Green, forward, senior : elbow shooting (ala Bill Laimbeer),,,studying Rick Mahorn or/and Charles Oakley's intimidation game
“Kasi” Kushkituah, senior : Back to the basket jump-hook reverse pivot fade to compliment the Jumphook,,,more aggressive defense
Jaiden McCoy, senior (has stated her last year) : elbow shot,,,permeter footwork on defense (for when she gets switched and end up on a guard)
Jordan Walker, guard, junior : gaining a distribution mentality,,,dropping the volume shooting mentality
Rae Burrell, forward, junior : Aggression under control,,,looking for someone to run over instead of swinging wide on drive-attacks
Jordan Horston, sophomore : looking to shoot/drive/score more,,,becoming the visible/vocal team leader
Tamari Key, post, sophomore : back to the basket jumphook w/ reverse pivot fade for a counter,,,emotional/facial/physical intensity (aka,,learning the Dikembe Mutombo finger-wag on blocks)
Jessie Rennie, sophomore : taking a spot instead of waiting on it to be given to her,,,upfake/drive to go with her shooting
Emily Saunders,sophomore : Posting up (sooner) should be done once the ball gets one-dribble past mid-court,,,rebounding intensity and emotion
Tess Darby, freshman : dribble pickup/pass reception-to-shot release in under .8 seconds,,,mid-range game
Destiny Salary, guard/wing : relentless attacking the basket on drives, both with contact and unobstructed,,,go under Jordan Horston's defensive tutelage
Marta Suarez, 6-2 ; mid-range shooting,,,high elbow variations on offense

This years team is more of an unknown quantity than any other in recent years. We really don't know what we'll get from Grad Transfers like Walker and Green. If they are as productive as they were at their last school were on to something good because even with those numbers and players returning posting numbers comparable to past seasons this team is far better than last season. You then have the freshmen who we hope can give us offense off the bench when their number is called. I think the top factor to the season is how much Key, Horston, and Burrell have improved. How they play will totally determine our season. We can depend on Davis for reliable production done efficiently. We need a lot more effective play from Key, Horston, and Burrell.
We have a lot of new faces and who will step up and be a player is going to be interesting and hopefully positive more than negative. The ultimate would be if the freshmen can shoot the three like they did in high school. We certainly replaced the losses that we suffered last season still they have to produce ready for some basketball.

I think this is key...how much Green and Walker can contribute from Day 1. I don't think the transition from mid-major to P5 is an easy one, and how they are able to make that jump will probably determine how good this team can be...even more than the impact of the freshmen. Until we can see them play against the tougher competition, it's hard to assess how good they actually are.

Sami Whitcomb of the Seattle Storm & Allie Quigley of the Chicago Sky wheww I would love too see Tess and Jessie shoot like those two
