I lean more to being satisfied than not. It's hard to beat Florida and Georgia in the same year and not be excited. The Alabama blow out and the South Carolina loss although horrendous, fail to trump those two key wins.Thoughts?

Absolutely not. Beating Florida but losing the east to them is the same as losing to them in my book.

While id like to have seen us do better, the injuries and issues with Hurd and Williams truly derailed us. I am, while not satisfied, also not blaming that on Butch. With a fully healthy lineup we beat A&M and USCe.

South Carolina and Alabama were quality losses. Both are headed to bowl games. UT has done well this year. Go Vols.

The SC loss was tough, but Dobbs had the worst game of his career. You can't pin that on Butch. Hurd's selfishness also came to a head during that game and not knowing what all transpired it's also hard to judge how Jones handled it.

Anyone that thought TN wasn't in for a long day against Bama was delusional. At that point they were beaten up and worn out..... period.

Of course I'd liked to have seen the Vols win the East and etc., but in all the years I've been watching football I've never seen a rash of injuries like the Vols experienced this year.

Florida just went down to LSU and beat them with basically their 2nd string defense.

Funny how injuries don't effect them as much.

Let this sink in....

We beat everyone in the East not named south carolina (assuming we beat vandy) and we still aren't in the SEC championship game.

Whoever on this board thinks a new years day bowl is better than an SEC East division title is smoking meth and should have their head examined

...also funny how some people look at one snapshot and don't see the bigger picture right in front of them...:)

GO VOLS...ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD!

Only because of the injuries do i vote "YES".

Fanatics expect more but logic has no place on this board.

It's a mixed bag. It's a solid record. Got rid of the Florida monkey.

However, did not win East (if not now, when?). Did not play up to potential for 60 minutes in a game all season. Questionable effort in almost every game.

Image of the season is the 3rd string QB pumping up the team against VaTech

Thread is one week too early. Can't make a proper assessment until all the games are played..

My expectations were 10-2 and to be the favorite to win the East. I thought we might lose it to uga, depending on how Smart did in his first year.

Anytime I have expectation, one below is still acceptable.

So I am not completely satisfied, but the season is not a failure at all.

Now if we lose to Vandy, I will not be satisfied. But Butch will still be our coach next year. We need to hold serve on Vandy to help recruiting, get a new AD and see where the chips fall next year.

No East title = failure.

This was the year, with the worst east since divisional play began.

And we've snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

:censored: next yr we will probably see two diff qbs, as in Dobbs case his freshman year, one of the two will pull away, just hope it's the one with the better wheels, cuz both our backups have good arm strength, What do you think Daffy?
