Our offense is, indeed, BAD. The score hides our offensive issues--shaky offensive line, utterly predictable play-calling. Have we thrown a pass to our TE all night? How many have we thrown to the wideouts--5? We joke about the 5 plays that DeBord likes to run--but it's actually about true. We run a 1970s Big 10 offensive out of shotbun--two runs and a swing pass on 3rd and 8.

Oh no. I get it, but why? This is not a new system for us. It's not a new scheme. How does our o-line get slapped around against App and for a lot of the night against VT? We don't have a bunch of freshman out there! Are we just that poorly coached up front? And ultimately isn't Debord in charge of the offense.

You've got s RS-FR playing left tackle and a center with an unspecified injury. They look poorly coached at this point, but the majority of that must fall on the Oline coach.

I think 2017 will be the true judge on Debord.

If we fire Mahoney and hire a decent o-line coach. Dormady will bring a true passing threat to the offense and then we can judge Debord ' s playcalling. I keep thinking he's only being vanilla to protect Dobbs's deficiencies as a passer.

Who plays and who doesn't play is more political than you think, trust me. It's not about who is better. I've personally seen video of O-lineman walking the dog with other O-lineman, and bullying D-Lineman. But that is not the video that the media is allowed to show. That's not the narrative they want fans to follow. I've heard members here saying particular players are a bust because they haven't played. Ask yourself a question, If that's true, why haven't they been released and allowed to transfer so a scholarship can be freed up?

These first couple weeks make me miss the offseason threads. We go down 14 last night, our players step up make plays,turnover the other team,respond by burying a team and we complain about not getting enough offensive yards? You're not going to have a lot of yards offensively when you get the ball on the other teams side of the 50.

For me it wasn't that. It was that the O didn't look good much of the time. It indicates problems that were covered up by other stuff.... some of it good play by UT. Some of it mistakes by VT.
