Are you in favor of keeping Chavis as Defensive Coordinator?

Do you want the new coach to keep Chavis as defensive coordinator?

Though I wouldn't want Chavis to be head coach I don't think he's a bad coordinator. Who would be better?

who thinks he stays as DC and who thinks he "should" stay as DC?

If this has already been discussed please merge or send me the link 'cause I'd like to hear thoughts on this.

I would've voted to keep Fulmer if he had gotten rid of Chavis years ago. The "mustang" has cost us several games over the years. I vote "NO".....lol

I have a hard time seeing Chavis coach at UT without Phil. I do hope that we obtain or retain some SEC coaching experience in our new staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It would be a shame to see the defense regress the way the offense has with new blood this year.

He is a Tennessee guy. UT is always the place he wants to coach the most (maybe the only place in past 20 years) He could certainly say "I will do my job" rather than "I recruit better than anybody" and "I love this program and I want to see it be successful." I am moved when he says “There’s not anything out there that I can’t handle if I deem it important to get it done, whether it be with the media or recruiting," he doesn't have to say all these, but he took that responsibility. He is the man

i just think that his defensive style has ran its course similar to clawson (cough, fulmer cough) play calling

Can I edit the poll so that the votes are private? I don't care about anyone knowing my vote but I know some people would prefer it to be anonymous and it's all about participation...not trying to call anyone out.

Chavis is one of the reasons that Fulmer is out of a job...had Phillip stepped up years ago and demanded that Chavis figure out how to stop somebody on 3rd down...we'd probably be looking at a few more NC's and the most succesfull coach in CFB history.

Never has a D.Coordinator looked as impressive on 1st and 2nd down yet repeatedly get burned on 3rd down. My oh my how many times did Spurrier feast on Chavis in 3rd and long situations.

In credit to Chavis, he is a fantastic LB coach...there will always be a job somewhere for him on those credentials alone.

Frankly Dan Brooks has done a fantastic job with the D-Line and as much as I think Caldwell has been useless at times he's done some great things with the Ends. So why was Chavis so pathetic on 3rd down, why did he have no anwers at times with making adjustments on the fly? Regardless Phillip was responsible and he never stepped up and demanded better.

Chavis's defense has won plenty of games. In the the past ten years of decline the D has been the high point. Who do you replace him with?

Chavis has been outschemed, outcoached, outclassed, and downright outsmarted just as frequently as Fulmer has. Take away All-Pro talent and he's useless.

The D wasn't the high point in 2004, 2006, or 2007. It had a few atrocious letdowns in our biggest season this century that kept us from an SEC Championship and an NC appearance.

His defense has been good in spots. But when you absolutely, positively need a stop on 3rd down, it falls apart. And once we get up by double digits, we get into that soft coverage and try to run out the closk and not get beat over the top...

Really good point and I must agree. Long 3rd downs have been very disappointing.
