If volnation raised heck and got Currie to call off the Schiano deal, why cant we influence him to hire the coach we want? Call, tweet, email, and text him to tell him the coach you want. It is already clear that he will botch this if we dont. I personally contacted him via twitter and email and told him I want Lane Kiffin. What about you?

Consumers aren't like shareholders

The only reason why Schiano wasn't hired is because politicians and other boosters got involved

Its not because 100 people protested in front of Neyland or a few Vol fans tweeted

You are exaggerating your own self-worth

BS.... Currie's voicemail and email account got filled up. The guy's phone got lit up. People had an impact.

And are you suggesting the 102,000 butts that occupy seats in the stadium arent shareholders? I was at the Vandy game and I have never seen Neyland that empty. Currie better start listening to "consumers".

The one and only reason that the fanbase blocked the hire of Schiano was the Penn State connection. If that had not been the case we wouldn't even be arguing about anyone right now because we would already have him as the HC. That being said from a football perspective I am glad that he wasn't hire, but please don't expect that to happen again. The next coach will either be extremely popular with the fanbase (Kiffin, but its not happening) or squeaky clean so the fanbase cannot stomp out the deal (Morris or Steele, likely one of these 2 IMO).

Did you try calling or emailing the guy about Schiano? I did... I got a message that his voicemail was full when I called. I also emailed him and got a message back a few hours later saying that it could not be delivered because his mailbox was full. Are you seriously suggesting people being vocal about their disapproval did not have any impact?

Let me put it at you this way

Should he listen to every voice out there

What if you are riding in the bus and the right side wants to go left and the left side wants to go right, which side should the bus driver listen to?

You can't have mob rule.

Schiano was an exception to the rule. He had a questionable issue at Penn State. That will not come up again

At some point, the bus driver has to take control and make a decision. Its what he is paid for. Not you or I.

Kiffin is the best hire he is not leaving again for at least 4 or 5 years and that has become a lifetime for most coaches that aren't homers of a school. I can see us moving back into a prestigious position in the SEC pecking order with Kiffin running the program.
