Are we too fast

The bigger problem is 3rd down conversions on offense IMO.

This team is pretty terrible at it, 74th in the country in percentage. DeBord or whoever is actually running the show has consistently had this team playing behind the sticks with predictable early down play calling.

They aren't much better at getting teams off the field on 3rd down either on defense, 43rd there as well.

Consistently losing on 3rd down will wear a defense out a lot more than the offense side running up tempo.

The best way to improve on 3rd down conversion, is to improve 1st and 2nd down performance.

The problem is not 3rd down...it's 1st down. We are averaging 1-2 yds a rush on 1st down and everyone is keying in on Hurd. Until we have better 1st downs, 3rd downs will remain the same.

I'd say we rarely are. We very rarely run up tempo. We typically use about half the playclock IMO.

Right, that's what I thought. We're not like Missouri/Texas Tech / old WVU where they run like 6 drives in a half and each of them is less than two minutes in length.

I think Dobbs is a good player overall but he has made crucial mistakes that have cost games. His OT picks vs Oklahoma and T a and m were horrible throws and ill thought out...and in general he just doesn't have the accuracy. He has his moments...sure but his strength is in running the football...not passing.

Next yr with Dormady you'll see a more dynamic offense becuz of his passing threat. It will open up the run game.

Also...Butch needs to recruit more speed. Look at that Bama game.Well..maybe not..it might make you puke...but their team speed is insane compared to ours.

Bama has to be the bar Butch strives to reach.

There have been many times this season players have made crucial mistakes on both sides of the ball. To try and blame Dobbs and think think the off line will be able to block or the D can stop the run consistently bc of Dormady next year is just....

It worked out for WVU so well today. They will lose a couple more games because they haven't really beaten anyone good yet just like Baylor.

Yes we should give the defense more rest. But run, run, pass, punt, quick 3 and outs do not give us a lot of chances for that.

This game is the final chance I'm giving DeBored to show he really is the real thing as we were led to believe. He is as predictable as a redlight when you can see the yellow caution change in the crossing lanes. It's almost unbelievable. The only reason I can think to give him some slack is the virtual biblical injury slate.

If the up the middle up the middle dump pass kick continues, I'm going to either have to believe he is trying to get the old 4 yds and a cloud of dust slobberknocker type game back in; but that old timey big tough big boy football is no match for todays sophisticated defenses, OR our QB just can't make the right reads on the options.
Am I wrong?
