The defense is terrible. The linemen were ineffective. The offensive line was dominated by a three man rush. Going to be a rough year.

Defense is terrible don't know how they can improve enough not to get gashed all season. A lot better offenses coming our way. I think I would try to slow down the offense some need to keep that defense off the field a lot more than last night.

both, but the defense overall looked pretty bad though. I know that offense is hard to defend and all, but they got gashed the whole game.

Defense is terrible without Kirkland just like it was last season.

The defensive tackles got pushed around all game.

Knogbo plays too high and is really slow to react.

Martin is the same CB as last season, he just can't cover anyone.

The best two players on the defense are 35 and 19. They can play. Its a real shame Kirkland isn't there to play with them.

Abernathy is a beast at safety as is Gualden no matter where he plays.

On offense Dormady throws into coverage and behind his intended target. Wolf has potential has a pass catcher but is incredibly inconsistent. It's hard for me to believe tha JG is worse than Dormady.

The line got whipped early, but show improvement as the game wore on.

Kelly and Callaway are ballers. Chandler needs more touches.

I know there are people jumping to conclusions right now saying that our run defense this year is as bad as it was last year or even worse. To those people I only ask that you go back and watch the game and focus on how our defensive line was playing Georgia Tech's offensive line. For some reason Bob Shoop thought it was a good idea to put our defensive lineman in 2-point stances 2-3 feet off the line of scrimmage. This allowed the Georgia Tech lineman to fire off the ball with momentum pushing our defensive line backwards every play. Rather than actually having our guys with their hands in the ground and dictating the line of scrimmage, we were on our heels the whole game reacting. Honestly that strategy made zero sense to me and it almost cost us the game. We shouldn't read anything into our defensive performance this game because we are not going to use that strategy ever again. Right now we have no idea how our guys will play once they get back to doing what they are used to which is being in a 3-point stance at the line of scrimmage dictating the line of scrimmage to the offensive line versus being on their heels the entire game reacting to what the offense does.

The only takeaway we can take from our defensive performance last night is that missed tackles are still a problem. Now that was alarming and we can only hope that it isn't a sign of things to come but rather a sign that the QB for Georgia Tech is damn good and elusive. With that said, a win is a win and I'll take them however I can. I think you'll see a much better performance from the rushing defense throughout the season once we start playing more conventional offenses.

The push their offensive line was getting was scary, and they are a middle of the pack ACC team. Are you saying don't believe what your eyes have seen?

The game featured two 9-4 teams...both had some starters to replace and both had some weaknesses their fan bases hopes were fixed...both probably go 8-4

Need Tuttle back. Outside of warrior db's looked porous again. Don't know why we played so far off the line on DL and so soft on DBs in final minutes. We could still be ok against traditional schemes. We found RB, WR and DE. Got a lot to improve, but have some things to build on...it was a win, which can't be diminished...found a way.

I don't yet know how good a team we are. You never learn that on opening day.

But I do know this: Georgia Tech is a much better football team than most of us give them credit for being. They take the triple option to a whole new level, with nuance that I've never seen before.

I'm used to Army and Navy football. What we saw from Ga Tech was light years beyond that in its sophistication.

I was hella impressed with that team last night. They are very good.

If GT plays that way the rest of year, they will not lose 4 games. That was a very good team and we are very lucky

I had flashbacks to Bama of 1970s and remember how gut wrenching it is to play against a team who masters the triple option.

And yet...I don't think what Paul Johnson has done with his offense existed back in the '70s. Or ever, before he invented it.

I mean, the idea of applying spread concepts to the flexbone formation, that alone is mind-boggling. And that's only the start of what he's done.

Dude's a genius, in his little niche of college football.

Several coaches and players have stated that we started working on this offense in Feb. We spent practice time on it during spring, players during the summer, and during fall camp.

That's an understatement. There were even a couple of busts including one on Georgia Tech's last drive in regulation which could have cost us the game. However, I have to say that Gaulden was held twice by that white receiver on Georgia Tech TD's and also blocked in the back on that last drive in regulation with no calls made.

Made their QB look like the second coming of Tommy Frazier. Defense was pathetic, not physical, pad level too high, couldn't get off blocks.. It was bad, made them looks worlds better than they actually are. You take the win, burn the film. What i don't get is most of what we saw was bad technique defensively and we supposedly have a mastermind of a DC. I think we got sold some snake oil at this point.

I think it is a little bit of both.
That offense is tricky to defend, but the vol defense but made it look stronger than it really is.
I know one thing, it was a helluva fun game to watch!!
Kept me up too late and I'm dragging at work today. Oh well. Very worth it.

GT is obviously a tough matchup and we just so happen to get them when they have Marshall, who is their best QB since Joe Hamilton.
