Are we setting Stephens up like we did Crompton?

In my mind, one of two things is going to happen with this QB situation.

1) Stephens will do really well and we will be angry at Fulmer for not giving him a chance earlier.

2) Stephens will prove why he was behind Crompton on the depth chart and we will truly be screwed.

The bad part is Stephens will have to have the equivalent of a negative QB rating to prove your number 2 correct.

only problem will be that if number one is correct, it will still buy TCHFCATUTK more time on the sidelines. But if he proves me wrong, I'll live with that.

I have been wondering the same thing. I think he will do better. What happens when his 2nd start as a qb is against GA in Athens? What happens when he comes back home and he has to play Bama? will the fans turn on him just like crompton. I happen to remember a number of people didnt have too many good things to say about ainge vs bama last year. Things could get very ugly for him.

It's official, Stephens is starting per Fulmer.

I don't think any of us are expecting Nick to be Peyton Manning or Heath Shuler or anything.

We'll think he looks like it if he can avoid 3 and out every time and complete passes. He could be 10 of 18 for 130ish yards and 1TD and I'd think he was the next coming of Manning just because of how horrible Crompton has been.

Why didnt the coaches realize in the 3 years of evaluating JC that he isnt SEC QB material? Why didnt we try to get Snead the transfer that went to Ole Miss? I blame the coaching evaluation more than anything on this one.

How loud will the crowd cheer if Stephens completes a pass of 5 yards or longer. Or even better, what if he converts a 3rd down. Hope is a good thing.

Hopefully he just manages the offense and doesn't get us beat. If we just don't turn the ball over we would have beaten UCLA and Auburn.

our qb's seem like they may have spent all spring and summer learning the offense and not being concerned enough about how to read defenses and progressions. also, many plays that we have ran this year have had, in my opinion, terrible combination routes and not enough check downs.

a great qb is one that is very talented and can be easily molded into what our coaches need in order to implement their game plans. we don't seem to have a grasp on our offense from top to bottom so i doubt that anyone we put in there right now is going to stand out very much. crompton was definately not the answer so we will just have to see how stephens plays out.
