Are We Improving Under Butch?

Dude, UF has to play LSU every year. UGA gets Auburn every year. In terms of rivalry and rosters, those are the same of us vs Bama. LSU generally dominates UF. Auburn generally dominates UGA. Alabama generally dominates us. I'm tired of people acting like UT getting Bama every year is a big deal when UF and UGA get tough teams that are their permanent West Rival. We may not view LSU as a good team but they still beat UF more times than not and it was a one possession game. Same for UGA vs Auburn. UF got Arkansas and we got an overrated Texas A&M team. Coaching is the only reason Jimmy Mac has two east titles and Butch has none.

Whatever makes you sleep better, but LSU and Auburn aren't Bama.

In respect to our perspective, No they aren't. But we don't play them every year and we don't know the rivalry with those two teams. There is a reason they are our rivals' cross division rivalry games.

On paper, LSU and Auburn should have blown out Florida and Georgia. They didn't because it was a rivalry game that they face each other every year. Talent wise, Bama and the other two aren't close, but in terms of rivalry, that talent gap doesn't matter to our East Rivals.

I get what you're saying: rivalry games are always difficult. That doesn't make the teams comparable in talent though.

Did you won't to play Bama again after watching 2 team's the last 2 week's run through and over our Defense they would beat us by 40 to 50 point's and that might hurt the recruiting we will have our hand's full with WEBB and Vandy Webb will run for 250 if we don't do something different this week.:thud:

Sure I wanted to win the east and play in Atlanta; but, when you are forced to consider this isn't even the team that lost to AL the first time because of injuries and depth, there's the part that accepts maybe it's better this way. That thought people had during the off-season about splitting with AL and winning in Atlanta has simply been overtaken by events.

Freak, they don't have to be comparable in our eyes because we don't play them every year. That's the point. When we play Auburn or LSU, we don't have that extra oomph that Florida and UGA. You can't say They have a weaker schedule than us just because we don't play their cross division permanent teams every year.

Too much booze after watching Mike "Butch Jones" Mularkey lose to the Colts.
Man you just love hating on coaches huh? If you can't see the improvement under Mularkey you are plain blind. Who would you rather have coaching the Titans? Also, who would you rather have coaching the Vols that was available when we hired Butch?

Mularkey is the same garbage he's always been. It's amazing the amount of love losing coaches get in this state...

Amy Adams Strunk (sp?) could have written a blank check to anyone to come Coach this team. They settled for Mularkey who won 2-3 games as interim over 10 games. In the NFL, money talks in coaching hires. And the Adams family has plenty to hire whoever. What is sad is that the Titans should be a 1 or 2 loss team, but Murlarkey is a loser. Did you even follow the Titans' offseason?

The Titans will finish .500. Mind you that is a team that has had absolutely no buy-in from management for years. Look at what he has done with that o-line. So answer my question.

Sure you can. You can absolutely say they have a weaker schedule.

Would you say Tennessee vs Vandy = Auburn vs Alabama just because they're both rivalry games? Of course not.

Charlie Strong all day and I will take major hate for this. But the facts show that he would have been better in recruiting for Tennessee due to his Florida connections. He would have had a better defense in his first two years then Butch because of his system in regards to our roster, and he would have been motivated to beat Florida as he was passed over for personal reasons after Meyer left.

In regArds to his time in Texas, he walked into an offense who's starting QB had concussions galore from Day 1. Also, he has never had at any time 100% support of the boosters and administration behind him. That can singlehandedly kill a program. He will pay dearly for going to Texas because he will have to take the Kiffin route (coordinator at a big shool) for a few years before another school offers him.

Apples to Oranges. Auburn or Alabama aren't competing for the Eastern Title. The East is miles behind the West, but you can't compare the two based on division schedule. This is all about the cross division schedule.

That's crap. You're trying to spin things to look like UT has played well all season but just got some bad breaks in 3 games. All of the following games were extremely poorly played by UT, yet we squeaked by with unbelievably ugly wins against inferior teams:

Appalachian State
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
Missouri

This team is badly coached and completely unprepared EVERY week no matter who the opponent is.

So are those moral losses...how does that work?

Lol. I will say I commend you though. 99% of this board was dying for Strong.. no one will admit it though. He would have had a better defense in his first 2 years than Butch? Come on man.. have you watched any Texas games this year? Butch has outperformed Strong on every level. Strong should be winning National Championships by now. Instead he's on his way out.

You didn't answer the question.

Chip Kelly was available. Write him a check to pair with his former QB. We also could have gone after Josh McDaniels who has learned a thing or two after being a head coach and back to being under Belichek. Hell, we could have hired Doug Peterson who is having a heck of a year with Philly. We had a blank check to hire whoever and the Amy Adams went with the budget hire.

That's blatantly false. Half of the Texas administration that hired him is no longer there. A fair share of boosters didn't want him. He has yet to have the full support of the school, administration, or boosters behind him. You say Butch is better but the head to head says different.

McDaniels would have been a fair hire. Obviously debatable on whether or not he could outperform Mularkey. Also, remember that Denver got significantly better after McDaniels was fired.

I'm not following any of this. So then Tennessee vs Alabama would be equal to Tennessee vs Missisippi State as long as both were rival games?

Bama and A&M are better than four loss LSU and Arkansas teams, regardless of anyone's "rivalries."

In the NFL, Chip Kelly is a major step down from Mularkey. Now coaching UT? Chip is obviously one of the four or so coaches I would love to hand a blank check to if we could. I live on the West Coast and have been to a 49ers game this year. I will tell you this Chip Kelly ship is sinking fast in SF.

With the QB Josh fought for. #Tebow
