Thank God we're in Knoxville where there's no crime, burglaries, car thefts, drugs, prostitution and murder. Damn that only only happens in Memphis. Hell, Cherry Street is the safest place to be after midnight. There are parts of Memphis I love. But dude that's one dangerous place. Lived there for 8 years and.... had my car broken into 3 times and saw my wife and 2 children nearly abducted right in front of me. There were a couple other "situations" in the midtown area that we managed to not be directly affected by that I won't go into. We left 13 years ago partly because Memphis is in the top 5 nationally of rapes, murders, assaults, and robberies. Plus the public schools were awful.
Now, do I want UT to recruit there and offer schollys to the top players? Of course. Would be a blessing for both parties... UT would get great players and the player would be able to "escape" a bad city. But would I ever go back and live or let my kids go to school there? Hell no. There's a reason they were the 1 city that was always featured on The First 48 on A&E... incredibly dangerous and "angry" city.
I know this one rich kid named Tyler Bray. Nevermind.White Station is a great school, but it ain't rich. It serves a ton of kids who live in public housing or are below the federal poverty line. This is the kind of public school where the teachers are busting ass every day to make peoples lives better and are getting it done.
Instead of assuming the kids you approve of are "rich kids", maybe check the facts. I've known a ton of rich kids who make bad decisions because they know mommy and daddy can come bail them out.
Edit: Sorry, I see I'm like the fifth person to respond here. Not trying to pile on, just add facts.
