Are we becoming a pass happy team?

Yeah, I'm not sure how Crompton throwing the ball 27 times shows that we are pass happy.

I see a balanced offense out there that does both run and pass.

It wasn't like we threw the ball 40+ times and only completing 50% of the passes while we abandoned the running game even though we were getting 6 yards per carry...anybody remember that nightmare? I've tried to forget, just can't get it out of my head.

Somewhere in all the game postings, i read where Coach K. said that Memphis run defense was ranked very poorly and we had nothing to improve on by running the ball 40 - 50 times this week.

Tommy's game plan was to stop the run and make Crompton beat him. Might have worked in September, but Crompton's improvement has made Tennessee a balanced offense and future teams are going to have to respect our passing attack. Should be good for Hardesty and Brown.

Crompton has shown that he is a talented QB, maybe the best passer in a down year for SEC QBs. Makes you wonder how we lost to UCLA, Bama, and the Gators.

Pass happy or whatever CLK is doing is fine with me. We have never put 56 points on Memphis (ever). recently we have put up 41 pts in 06, 20 pts in 05, 19 points in 00, 17 points in 96, 24 pts in 94, 26 pts in 92. 56 points under CLK and I'm liking it (we are scoring some points now boys).

Ask Peyton if he woud have loved this game plan against Memphis, instead of lining up and imposing our "will" on a inferior team. CKL has stated on multiple occasions that the game plan will change from week to week.

no i just think CLK gameplans for what he knows will work. it has worked this year look at the florida game we ran the ball just about the entire game.

Lane changes up the game plan week to week depending on match ups. What I have seen is that opposing teams prepare to stop the run and we throw all over them. They now have to stop the pass and we'll hand the ball off to Hardesty and Brown. It's an NFL mentality. You change your strategy according to what the other teram brings you

They are still around...I sat in section UU and there was a guy behind me telling everyone how much better NS looked tonight than JC. My wife and I turned around just laughed in his face. I then proceeded to ask him if he had ever watched a down of football before in his life before tonight. I mean, come on, what does JC have to do in some peoples' eyes to get approval?!?!?! I'm darn proud to have him as our QB. Shows some real character to stick things out and never quit. The proof is in the pudding...

Good for you and your wife... what a punk that guy must have been

With Hardesty only gaining 60 yards and Brown 55 on the ground, JC passing for over 300 yards are we becoming a pass oriented team?

Yes. I predict that against secondaries that allow our receivers to run downfield by themselves, we are going to throw the ball a bunch.

Another thing to think about...

After seeing the tape of Crompton throwing for over 300 yards in the first half, do you think Ole Miss's D coordinator is going to feel confident stacking the box this coming weekend? I'm not saying a dominant game against Memphis makes Crompton unstoppable, but any changes to the defensive scheme that give Hardesty and Brown holes to run through help.

Kiffanator takes whats shown to him.. He likes to win. He likes to destroy opposing teams...

CLK said he was wanting to "take it to these guys" he said he could have ran the ball more and went in 17-7 at half but he wanted to put it to them and he was also worried Hardesty could get banged up and then we would be without him for the Ole Miss game. It sucks Hardesty didn't get 150 or os but if you ask him I think he will take the win over numbers anyday.

I had some idiot like that behind me at the UGA game. When Crompton threw the pick 6. He said " well there goes the game Crompton is a headcase he will never recover". I finally had heard enough of him and told him that he is the worst excuse for a UT fan I had ever seen. He didn't deserve to wear the UT hat or shirt he had on. He ended up leaving shortly after. I guess he ate his crow and got sick. I dont know.

Memphis said "We will stop the run at all costs.", which I thot for a bad run D they did an OK job at it. So Kiffin said screw you guys we'll throw it up on you! Besides if you QB is playing like Drew Brees, why run it? But dont worry we'll run it enough when we need to.

To answer your question yes in another year or so this will be a pass first, run second offense.

Someone said it earlier Coach Kiffin comes from Southern Cal. While they may have had Reggie Bush, LenDale White or a Joe McKnight etc.. all big time running backs. They also had Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez and now Matt Barkley.

That's why Coach Kiffin and staff is trying to get a All-American/rocket armed type Quarterback and why we are recruiting these big & tall (6'3-6'5/6) receivers.

Its a lot easier and quicker to put up the points when you throw the ball down field.
