Will Butch learn from his in game mistakes.
Will he truly self evaluate his decisions and coaching staff.
If he can't or won't, we will fire him after 2016 or 2017.
And, with him being such a great recruiter and motivator, that would be a terrific shame.

Also, remember Coach K and Duke. They were ready to fire him but AD could see it getting stronger, now just google ncaa basketball champs - he is GOAT!

Its the offensive scheme. Period. We can take the all America team with this offensive scheme and not go undefeated. Much less win a championship. We will just keep trying to add talent, losing players to other teams along with transfers and keep staying the youngest team in the country. Next year can't be over soon enuff, next year, no excuses.

I still support CBJ, just lost confidence in him and his staff to hold on to a lead against a good team. I think all the coaches need to meet and have a change in game planning strategy. Obviously what they are trying now isn't working when they play a team with equal or better talent. Maybe the "ole ball coach" was on to something when he had a two QB system...........it kept the opposing defense off guard. I don't expect us to be better than a 6-6 team now with this level of coaching.

1982 11-17. If not for AD would have been canned! Pretty sure somebody said his coaching sucked in there!

Next year 24-7. 2 yr later 1st of many Natl Champs!

I know other stories show opposite of this also. But I still think he will get it done. Books still say big lead in fourth don't go crazy thowing it all over field much better chance of holding win! I know he was trying to give them best chance of winning in his mind!
Still have to give him time to build back and begin to catch a damn break!

One final thing and I am going away for a week! Butch is teaching good football in practice! Ok, I agree to a couple (but less than it appears) bad mistakes in game mgmt. but, you can run faster carrying the ball like a loaf of bread. You can carry it high and tight it slows you down a bit. Watch Ole Miss. they play free and easy with the ball. Alabama runs with it high and tight. Ole Miss will lose more games than Alabama this year - book it!

Georgia and Alabama are only two games left that count as signature wins. If Butch loses he doesn't deserve 4th year

Definitely out. Will not win big here. 8-4/9-3 is his peak in his best years even with top recruiting classes.

I am a Vols fan, not a Coach ______ fan.

Do I support the head coach and want them to succeed? Sure. I was all for Majors, Fulmer, Kiffin, Dooley, and now Jones succeeding because it is good for the program I support.

Doesn't mean a single one of them were or are above reproach and criticism however.

And questioning the decisions and actions of a coach doesn't equate to not being a fan as some believe on here.

Different sport, different time frame, and there are miles of separation in terms of Krzyzewski and Jones in terms of coaching ability.


Stacking Jones up against a hall of fame coach and one of the best ever in college basketball isn't particularly fair to Jones.

Butch Jones =/= Coach K. How silly.

If he admitted mistakes and corrected them, I'd support him. But it's evident he's not learning anything.

Sure, I'm a Butch supporter. Only a fool would be calling for his head right now. He is the best thing to happen to Tennessee football since Fulmer left a few knives in Majors' back and made Cut and Chavis his coordinators.

That said, Butch and Co. deserve some serious heat for the team's performances through four games. We all know what the issues are.

If he is the leader we all hope he is, then he will make some serious changes in thinking, philosophy, strategy and tactics about how to win games. He will start by looking in the mirror. Leaders aren't afraid to do that.

He will be smart enough to see that we are at serious risk of winning only 6 games this year if something fundamental does not change. He will be smart enough to see that his job is at great risk if he does not adapt and adjust to the ugly realities of this team thus far.

We are four games into the season and we have no passing game. Our receivers cannot beat man/press coverage. Our DBs cannot play man/press coverage. Our second line of D, our LBs, is a glaring weakness, especially in pass defense. Our offense has become one-dimensional.

And our defense...well..."third down for what?" has morphed into "it's fourth and Tennessee...let's go for it" to our opponents.

These kids have played their hearts out for this staff. They deserve better. They deserve to win. And we all know we should be 4-0 right now.

So, yes, I am a Butch supporter. And I trust he is smart enough to know that he has to change his approach to winning games right now. This week. No more excuses, no more cliches.

I support the Tennessee Vols. Not Butch. he is nothing more than a good recruiter and a .500 ball coach. 0-7 against UF, UGA, Bama, with 0-9 being a very real possibility.

No one wearing orange could be pleased with the results from OU and UF, but I think it's clear to see that there are some good things happening on the field. Deservedly so, those things are muted by the late-game meltdowns. I'm still on board with the staff, but continued disappointments will force a re-evaluation at some point. I'm hoping this coaching staff is learning on the job and will lead us to better days. I'm hoping.

We have no WR's with more than 100 yards total in 4 games, we NEVER play zone defense, and opposing QB's go after Foreman. Our nickel back position is a HUGE issue, may need to look at putting Juwan Jennings out there! He does us no good being on sidelines. Debord needs to go, and take Jancik with him or Butch is toast.....

I 2nd this. 2 recruiting classes has brought the passion back we haven't seen in years. Too early for me to jump ship. Still sux that we are just a few minutes and a few bad play calls from being 4-0. Is what it is I guess! GO VOLS!

Actually the last 3 years of success of our Brand, Image, Appeal, and overall Social Media 'Love' has been the direct result of Jason Yellin's effort as the head of the Athletics Communications and Media department and Assoc AD. Yellin was hired 6 months before CBJ.

I will gladly eat my words if butch somehow finds how to coach on Saturdays, but I'm afraid that's not gonna be the case. Sad thing is we're probably stuck with him for a few more years...we have become the SEC's Nebraska.
