Are There Any Butch Supporters Left?

I'm not a supporter of any coach. Don't donate money, rarely go to games. I am behind Lyle because he is the coach. I see his method of rebuilding this program. Everything is right except wins and losses. He has been so close in several games since he took over in '13. But, I don't know if he will ever turn the corner to where we as fans want this team to be. I firmly believe changes need to be made in assistants (at a minimum) before next year's season.

Butch deserves some support for building a team that the fan base believes can win. The problem is this team is talented but young. Each of these losses is a learning experience. Fans don't understand this. They just see high recruiting classes and expect 10 win seasons. Check expectations and give Butch more time. Even if he's not the right guy he is making the program better than what he started with.

I am done.......... I support the team ... but not this coaching staff. They are mostly Yankees and they have no idea what SEC Football is about. Hate to say it but Good Bye Butch and Staff........

Been supporting Butch since his hire...still do.
No excuse for him tonight. Not going for two, TOs at head scratching moment.
It's so frustrating because even a casual fan can see it from the couch.
Why does he tense up in the 4th? I do think it's easily fixed by learning from mistakes.
Just hope he's humble enough to see his errors tonight.

Well spoken. I've been posting about this game and will continue to do so. Most fans see it, as it has happened twice very recently, and it has something to do with the lead and the clock of all things. Actually CBJ strays from the maxim "pressure them for the full 60 minutes". That is his mistake. CPF did that conservative trash often and got away with it because of good line play. Everyone, everywhere, is talking about it or was a couple of hours ago. Too much to say to get it all out in the open this late but will he humble himself is major. His philosophy is wrong. He actually backed off on defense on UF's next to last possession, kinda like give 'em the underneath stuff. Other things occurred too. The "old ball coach" did it best, keep pouring it on. Often times accused of running up the score. I guess we'll see soon because we've seen almost the same thing repeat itself and it is all on him (CBJ), this attempting to lay the blame off on youth and inexperience, failure to execute, blah, blah, blah, is his way of trying to save face. In a nutshell, getting up on good teams by 2 TD's is the harder part than maintaining such lead for 10 minutes with our talent. I truly do wish he will learn from this, correct it, and allow the big orange to develop as a cohesive unit on both sides of the ball. I think every fan knows this is the beginning of something that can be special and long awaited and we,as a fan base need to be unwavering in our support.

Another pathetic 4th quarter loss. Jones can't. finish a game. Predictable plays. He doesn't have it in him to play all four quarters. This is SEC football. You have to score not coast on the points you have. I am sick at the prospect of losing what I see is 4 more games this season. Getting off of the Butch train..

We're behind UK in the SECE. UK. Who has far less talent than we do. On both sides of the ball.

I'm not sure ButchCo could close a game against some of our recruits' high school teams.

I see a lot of sheep who are still drinking the big orange kool aid. Saying if we don't toe the line that we don't support the vols. I'll tell you one thing is for sure. I bleed orange. It's all that I've ever known. I've been a vol a lot longer than Butch Jones and co and it makes me sick to see the orange getting shamed that way. I am proud of our players and the effort they put in day in and day out. Me calling for the head of a staff member is out of the love I have for the Big Orange.

This is the only way I see butch working out long-term:

* Hands off the Defense. If it's Jones that is telling Jancek to clam up in the 4th and has cost us multiple games... just let Jancek keep doing what has worked.

* Hands off the Offense. You no longer have a "system", Jones. You are the CEO. You make a good VP hire and you let them do their job.

* Hire a great mind that can work with the talent we have on hand.... and we have plenty. Let him bring in his guys for OL, WR, RB. Give RB Special Teams and bring in a QB coach.

Win 9-10 games in 2016.

Jones won't do that, however, because Jones is stubborn... at least he has been to this point.

I was a UT fan back when Jones and his Cinci squad rolled into Neyland and got hammered by (at that time) a completely overwhelmed idiot head coach.

Zero chance. There will be no changes. WYSIWYG from now on.

I support him as I support all coaches, but some of these decisions are head scratchers. We have good WR but no passing game? Whether that is QB, WR or OL is a question the coaches should have to answer. We've put players in positions to win big games, but they can't close the deal. Some seem to forget the crap Dooley dished out and the dumpster fire that was left. That being said these are Butch's players and they all (coaches included) should finish out games.

I still support him because it's what's best for the team. There is no excuse for this loss, but there are 8 more games left and I want us to win every single one of them.

We actually have a great shot at winning 6 of 8, and as disappointed as I am, I am going to put this game behind me and root as hard as I can for the Vols the rest of the season.

I concur. This is being a true VFL! If you want to fire our coaches because of 2 close loses with blown leads then maybe you should turn in your VFL card. I don't like losing these games either but I'm a VFL, what about you?

CBJ is beginning to remind me of Dooley. Dooley had some good moral victories, but without the 5* talent. Also, teams like Florida were better when Dooley was here. I'll watch, but getting excited & pumped about games are over.

The bigger question is will the players quit on Butch? Most of them quit on Doofus. It's hard to keep buying in when you play your butts off and the coaches sabotage your efforts. Not only do the fans know that we should be 4-0, but the players know it too.

I support the Vols. I support the team. I am disappointed for them that overly-conservative (and just downright bad) play calling has cost them two winnable games. I am sure that's chipping away at their morale. I am sure they know Sunday mornings after games like that chip away at fan morale. So do I support the coach? Not right now I don't. Do I wish that group of talented kids had the kind of leadership they deserve? Yep.

We have to generate a passing attack. They either need to take the reigns off Dobbs and let him make some mistakes, or bring in Dormady who is obviously more accurate. Either way , your not gonna win many games in the sec when you starting qb throws for 83 yards.

the Vols do have a bunch of talent, but there not up to SEC speed or talent, call it what you will,a lack of depth thrown in there too

CBJ has brought in a lot of talent, but they need a lot more :hi:

I am ticked like everybody. There's plenty of blame to go around. But comparing Mclwain inheriting that defense to Dooley leaving 4/5 unathletic ( notice they were still good kids!) starters on Offense and Defens is not even in the same league. Yes, Butch could have done better with what he has right now. But we are light years more athletic than we were 3 years ago! And not fair to compare that with say cupboard handed over at Florida! If patient - my logic still says Based on last year Florida is dropping in talent and we are still increasing - there are the facts ( it could reverse if we don't start winning some games!)
