Are There Any Butch Supporters Left?

If Butch left it would hurt the program, but damn if he isn't making it hard to support him with his piss poor coaching.

You know, I am agreement with most of you about Butch but I encourage you to dig a little deeper. Who is Dave Hart? And why is his style of management acceptable? UT hasn't brought home a big prize in quite some time. It crosses over to the mens and womens basketball teams So when did this great university become just OK with being just that, OK?

Only chance for UT to be back is to hire a rock star as coach. Hart has to see this isn't cutting it.
We will endure another year easily before anything is done. My guess is we win 6-7 games and butch stays.

Oklahoma and Florida losses after leading by comfortable margins fall squarely on the coaching staff. Too many dumb in-game decisions. Butch is not ready for the big leagues.

Honestly, losing like this to Florida...like THIS for the 11th time in a row just puts a permanent stain on the season. Beating Arkansas will do NOTHING to alleviate it or erase it. We had this game won..and that SOB AGAIN found yet another way to choke it away.

Even beating Bama (which won't happen) won't erase the stain of 11 in a row in a game we absolutely had in the bag. Beat Arkansas? Big deal. We don't just celebrate the W.Carolina game while we're at it.

Losing to Florida is the WORST that could happen. 11 in a row. Can't friggin believe it.

The season is lost. Everything will ring hollow here on out.

And watch when the recruits start bailing too. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE loss.

Agree - Oklahoma or Florida - needed to win one of them to have a "successful" season - gave them both away.

I believe he can be a good coach at this level but he's not there yet. Right now, I think the game is moving too fast for him. The truth is this loss is as much on the team as it is on Butch - neither the team nor the coaches have figured out what it takes to win in the SEC. 5 fourth downs and we let them make it every time? Stop them on just one of the last 3 of those and this board is full of threads about how we finally learned how to finish a game.

I don't think we can start over again so I don't think we have a choice - we have to believe in Butch.

We are not a "get your feet wet" program. If this is our mindset in the front office...I'm f'n done.

I tend to think that he feels the pressure and that Tennessee isn't going to be as welcoming as it once was. Tennessee is a great place to coach, if you win. If not, not so much.

smart fans will realize he is garbage. there will be many will defend him no matter how bad it gets.

He is not garbage, he is just coaching at a level above his pay grade. He has fixed a lot of off the field problems that were left by the previous coaches, however he doesn't have the x & o ability. Got his foot in the door but cannot close the deal.

He was the third choice. Face it, since Fulmer we have had two and now possibly three coaches that know little about staff and war gaming.

This maybe the beginning of the end for him when or if he loses the players confidence in him he will be toast. two blown leads of 13 and 14 points will stir up a strong undercurrent.

The fact of not going for 2 pt conversion or the 4 and inches were decisions that affected the outcome of both games. Both rest firmly on CBJ.

Heck not only did Mcelwain win against UT, he did it with an OL that was just as much of a "process" as Tennessee's was. They gave Grier tons of time to perform two game winning drives along with routes that gave their WR's separation as well. I don't think Jones should be fired as there is no scenario where Tennessee has a net gain from that move, but I definitely have no faith that Jones will actually pull anything off. In fact my original prediction of 8-4 is now 6-6 at best. There is just no way that gameplan will beat Georgia, Alabama, or Mizzou, to be brutally honest I don't see Tennessee pulling off all of Kentucky, Arkansas, and South Carolina.

Yessir.....I am....supporting him....he's our best shot...it's still a long season....going 8-4 after beginning 2-2 will go a long way...

I certainly didn't BUY IN to all of the preseason hype...I stopped believing that crap after the 1990 season....had a brief relapse before the 2005 season---But Fulmer and Co. cured me forevermore...

WE are still on track to go 8-4.......

I remember when Majors started 0-6 one year and turned that into a 1 loss season the very next year...

Face it.....NEXT YEAR is make or break for Jones....

I just hope RECRUITS won't abandon ship after watching these last 2 games....but, once again--8-4 will go a long way in convincing them to stay!

So you are excited that we still have the possibility to go 8-4 when we should be 4-0 right now?

Wow...I wish I had your standards. I would not be as pissed off right now.

Butch has served his purpose-- recruited well, stopped the bleeding, stacked some bricks. But a HC has to coach up what he brings in, so it'd be nice to find someone who could do that.

I support Butch as long as he keeps selling the program and recruiting at a top 5 level.

Maybe he can eventually out talent most teams.

Do I think he and his staff can win games at this level? Results speak for themselves.

I support Butch till we don't go 10-2 next year. He's added enough to garner that much of a chance.

He's added enough? Enough what? To garner? Charlie Garner? Why do you think we'll be that much better next year? Another year under the Debord system?

I'm in the same boat with you Mike....this loss is on the staff and should have been a win.... This cannot be denied, but the vast majority of this team returns next year and they're already on the cusp of being very good. I didn't buy the preseason hype either, but damn.... The staff has let these kids down twice this season
