Will we run the table and make it to a bowl this year?

IYO give me the key reasons behind your answer.

I think we are marching for a bowl appearance this year. In my opinion even though this team is 2-6, their confidence has never been better this year, including after the LSU game. The main reason I say that is because our offense started clicking in the last half Saturday and put points on the board in a hurry. Now our defense knows winning the game doesn't lay completely on their shoulders. No longer is our goal not to lose the game, we can now believe that we can actually win the game on offense. The best defense sometimes is a good offense. IMO the last 4 coaching staffs we play won't be able to stack the box and dare us to pass anymore. In fact, they're going to have to work extra hard to stop our air attack, which will open up running room for Poole, and Neal. I think Neal will start to emerge in the last few games as a dominant back. No real reason for that except it's just a gut feeling. Poole is Poole, and if he gets room to run he's gonna make somebody pay! GBO

No.

We're worse than Kentucky and Ole Miss.

Why?

Because we have no depth, little experience, o-line sucks, inexperienced QB making his first 4 starts, inconsistent RBs and we apparently forget how to count sometimes.

Id like to think so, but i am less than optimistic. All 4 teams left are?better than the best team we've beaten.

If we can close 3-1 id take it and get out of Dodge feeling lucky.

We dont play another game out of our state and are playing teams that are finally in our stratosphere with depth and talent. I dont think it's unrealistic to think we can win out.

football is dead at UT. ha

Oh not so fast Daniel Son. If Bray turns out to be anything like he appears to be, we have a program building QB on the hill once again. If he is all that we hope he is, then kids from all over the country will come to play ball with the young gunslinger. IMO

It's not unrealistic to think we can't but at this point, I am just hoping for 3/4 so we can keep our streak alive. Here's to winning out though...

Despite going 2-6 this year, this team still has a lot to lose, and they also have a lot to play for.

I think we go 5-7 and show tons of potential, but the D wears down against either Kentucky or Ole miss and we lose.

I think we definetly have a chance to win out. We are showing progress week-to-week. If CDD does the right thing and makes Bray the starter, we will be in a better position to close strong. Most fans knew this was a rebuilding year and CDD has done a good job. He is the right man for the job and we are heading in the right direction. Bottom line is that a bowl game is achieveable and if I were CDD, I would have my team focused on winning out and making it to a bowl; regardless of which one. Having the goal of making to a bowl game is a way to keep the kids motivated and focused on doing their best.

my preseason prediction was 5-7 and I feel it may be worse like 4-8. Simply because prediction off thinking Masoli would not be eligible right away at Ole Miss and since he is that is another loss that i see.

Yes
All of the teams we face in November have losing records just like us.
In fact 2 (Ole Miss , KY) are fighting for .500 seasons and a bowl just like us.
Toughest task: Ole Miss
But both .500 contenders come to our house.
Their defenses on paper are not much better than ours. Ky is worst in the SEC at stopping the run.
Yes their offenses are better , but he haven't seen how much ours is going to improve with Bray at the helm playing 4 quarters.
I'd bet we go 4-0 but those who don't shouldn't be considered negavols, just realists.

Bowl of cereal maybe. But seriously, doesn't look good. I hope they do. Not because we can play in the Blue Bonnet Bowl but it equates to practice time for team.

If TN wins out it will play in Music City Bowl in Nashville v. ACC opponent. It would be between UK and TN as the two 6-6 teams, and TN will have just beaten UK, thus TN will be the choice. That would send UK to birmingham.

As an FYI, the SEC is no longer affiliated with the Independence bowl in LA.

It could happen (provided Bray is at QB) but at this point I think 3-1 is more realistic. Kentucky just seems to find a way to lose to Tennessee no matter what and we owe Ole Miss for last year....So I say it IS within the realm of possibilty. Losing to Memphis or Vandy would be unacceptable under any circumstances.

This. Even though both games are away from knoxville, this statement remains true.

Vols will beat Memphis and Vandy.

No. At no point during this season has UT shown the ability to beat a quality football team. The only game that UT was in striking distance at the end (LSU) they were caught with 13 men on the field. 13! Most Pee-Wee teams can figure out how to fix this problem. Tennessee will not go to a bowl game and unless discipline approves, will not go to a bowl game next year either.

so take away 1 play and UT beats a top-10 team? I'm pretty sure that means they have "shown the ability"

But you can't take away that play. It happened. If's don't work in sports or life. They haven't shown the ability. They screwed it up. That's what bad teams do, screw up the little things. Also, if you're going to take away mistakes, I'm sure LSU had a couple of plays they would like to have back. So then it's a wash and LSU still wins.
