Are NegaVols for real?

No there is no such thing as a negavol just like there is no such thing as sunshine pumpers. Just different fans with differing opinions. Why is that so hard to understand and why do some of you get so offended if someone voices disapproval of some aspect of the program?

I agree with your post, BUT it is just fun to make fun of the ones who only have negative things to say about the entire program and who lump the entire staff into one stigma.

I don't think there are actually that many of that type of poster. While I have a problem with much of the play calling and game management this year I still acknowledge all of the positives as well such as:

Improved overall defense
Studly dline
Development of Dobbs
High level of recruiting(resulting in immediate results)

I see many of the regular "negavols" posting positives as well. They just don't ever get noticed because without people sparking debate volnation would just be one great big circle jerk.

Because owning a computer and keyboard does not make one an authoritative voice. If they could back their negavol wisdom with any coaching chops then maybe. Makes one wonder why the university goes through national searches to find a coach when all they would have to do is pick and choose one right here on VolNation. Football wizards aplenty. More play calling scientists here then any other place in the entire universe. :eek:lol:

I say they just send crucial play calls to a Volnation poll

I don't mind constructive criticism. As a fanbase we need that. However, there is such thing as a true negavol. These are the people who NEVER post anything positive or constructive. We can win by 34 points and they still find something to complain about. I usually just chalk it up to them being miserable people in general. I work with people like that and it really just blows my mind how someone can go through life being that negative about literally everything. What people don't realize is that they feed on arguing and making people mad, so I usually just ignore them and hope they'll go away at some point. If everyone would do the same, they would probably get bored and stop posting. Or not.

There are a very few on here are actually "negavols", guys you don't hear anything from when things are going well and only come alive to criticize and call for firings, etc when the team is struggling/things are going poorly. I would say you could count those guys easily on one hand.

Most of the other posters on here who will honestly critique and criticize various aspects of the program, coaching, play are expressing legitimate opinions and that are more often than not valid.....and they love the team and program as much as anybody else.

Even though the bickering does get annoying, I have to admit that the real gems from both sides, and the responses to them, are part of what makes VolNation as entertaining as it is. If I couldn't jump on here at just about any time and see some overly excited person posting something ill-advised (to put it kindly) and others ripping them for 10 pages, I would have to increase my entertainment budget drastically to get by.

"critique and criticize various aspects of the program, coaching, play are expressing legitimate opinions and that are more often than not valid." BOY-OH-BOY, aren't you giving yourself major credit for wearing the big-boy pants around here. Valid in whose mind? Valid by whose standards? Valid by what on-field experiences? Dream on. This is VolNation, where you don't have to know anything to say something.

Just wondering. Also, I would wonder their average age. I'm guessing somewhere in the 15 to 17 year range.

everybody says I'm a negavol. I'm 40. used to be a Tennessee season ticket holder. played football in high school. got a bachelors degree from bowling green state university. so if you are trying to say that negavols are immature, maybe some but not all.

If we win by 34 and there is a legit concern in our team...I will complain about it.

I started a thread after our first game against Utah State about our lack of plays being called and that we looked very vanilla. I got blasted by most, only I few could actually see the point being made.

But looking back, I was wrong...yesterday we didn't even make it to vanilla, just plain whatever. And that's after an entire year of practicing and learning the system. Can't wait until our bowl game...maybe this is what the OC has been actually waiting on after all.

The problem with that is that only about .5% of this membership could fall into your negavol category. Posters like Roddo and the op will start some negavol BS, basically highjack the thread, and before you know it the thread turns into a bunch of members *****ing about negavols! Nevermind that there was an actual discussion taking place with members posting opinions.

Now who's giving themselves major credit and wearing the big-boy pants? WhoTF are you to decide what is considered valid?
