I mean honestly. erik ainge played fine the vols defense played amazing against IMO the best all around team in college football. And yet you guys come here and say fire everyone and im glad so and so is gone. Instead of being supportive of your team all you do is moan and complain. In case you didnt notice playing LSU, GA, KY, AL, AR, and FL all in one year is no easy task..cant expect to win them all and cant expect to have every player to never have an "off day"..face it nobody gets in to rhythm every game and especially not vs LSU. i say good game vols and good season, yall got things turned around with a young team and impressed even the worst of the fans, to bad most of them are to stupid and ignorant to congratulate you guys on having a good season. cya in the bowl game and have a good off season. cant wait to see this team next year.

Just because people criticize the Vols and point out areas that could use work doesn't mean we aren't proud of our team and what they've accomplished. I think the vast majority of the people in this forum understand the task of taking on the SEC and appreciate the difficulty that comes with that. It's alright to also criticize our team and look for areas that need improvement. In fact I'd say it's essential. I think that people are just frustrated right now because of their pride in their team and want the best for them. That's it and that's all. Now we need to wrap up looking at what we did wrong and look at what's next on the agenda.

Just how much do you think the Vols would have improved after the Alabama game if Fulmer had not caught a lot of flack?

throwing 2 INTs and 50% completion...

Hardly 'fine'.

Not to mention it was his two INTs that lost the game.

A 4 loss season is nothing to be proud of for UT. Let clemson and south carolina act like 4-5 loss seasons are "good."

Definitely a true fan here. Coaching staff put us in a good position to win. Ainge made 2 terrible int throws and went from a usual 65%ish passer to a 50% one.

Being a fan isn't like watching a child learning to walk. We aren't always going to be there to pick them up, dust them off and hug them. When Eric Ainge had 2 guys crossing over the the middle wide open, then checked off to the covered outside man on the 2 yard throw that was returned for an TD, I didn't wipe his tears away and give him a hug. I said "That was an awful pass!" And it along with the other INT cost us the SEC Championship.

Now, at the same time. I'm not angry or sad. It's a game. I never care about the bowl game, but around March or so I'll start getting the itch again and Come late August I'll be jumping up and down like I do every year.

And if we screw up on something, I'll still call us on it and then continue jumping up and down screaming the next play.

That's what fans do. We aren't parents of toddlers. We are a group of people who live and die with the successes and failures of our team every Saturday. Then Sunday/Monday rolls around and we go back to the "real life"

lame thread. refer back to dickens post, regarding Ainge.
this has not been a good season. the losses to UF and LSU, alone, will kill us in the recruiting battle.

The fanbase is clearly divided. On one side we have the people who want accountability within the program and who believe that lack of success at the highest level is clear evidence that changes MUST be made and on the other side we have the folks who seem to think that everything is fine and no significant changes are warranted. IMO, if Fulmer had half the honor of Houston Nutt he would resign before the bowl game and allow us to move on into the future as a united group.

Even Ainge's first touchdown pass was an inch away from being intercepted... The people I watch the game with or go to the games with have been on him all year and how they didn't think he was that great of a QB... I defended him all year, I couldn't last night...

Houston Nutt's honor may have had something to do with him being in the know that Ole Miss was an option and had their wallet out. Unfortunately for our beloved fearless leader, I don't believe any division 1 team has their wallet out for him.

I am one of the biggest Vol fans I know. I have supported them all year and always will!

People I know have told me Fulmer needs to go...blah blah.

I have been told that they would be lucky to be 6-6 this year...blah blah.

I was told they would lose to GA, SC, AR, and KY...blah blah

I defended they Vols and Fulmer each and every time. I thought Fulmer needed to at least play for an SEC Championship this year or next to stick around...and he did that.

I thought Ainge was a decent QB..and then he played in the SEC...bad game? How about he single handedly got his team beat!

This guy totally freaks out when there is any pressure at all on him. I saw him get pressured, and of course throw the ball away, when the RB would be wide open and Ainge would throw it over his head.

I am glad he is going to gone...but at the same time, it is scary wondering what we are going to have next year. Crompton has done nothing when he has been in. I have heard how good BJ Coleman will be and possibly Nick Stephens. Maybe even Gerald Jones...he is fun to watch.

I hope we have a good one waiting.

Go Vols!

We've officially reached a new low.
How so? Houston Nutt played at Arky, was a grad assistant at Arky, was an assistant coach at Arky, and eventually became hfc at Arky after working his way through the ranks elsewhere. Now I realize that Nutt transferred to OkState as a player, but IMO he has as much of an Arky pedigree as Fulmer has a Vol pedigree. Nutt could've stayed put with the 2-year extension but he did what was necessary to try and resolve a bitter divide in the Arky fanbase. Phil could do the same thing for us if he wanted to. My suspicion is the only reason Phil will not do it is that deep down he knows no other school will pay him even half what he makes at UTK.

Yeah . . . Nutt's decision to leave was definitely all about chivalry and honor.

Hey guys first let me say I believe most if not all posters here are truly Vol Fans. After all who the h--l wastes their time on something they don't give a d--n about.

In my opinion I have seen UT slipping into a very common, predictable, stale & embarrassingly simplistic offensive scheme for about 7 or 8 years now.

It doesn't take much inaccuracy when a defense is playing 8 sometimes 9 in the box and your offense insists on throwing simple 4-8 yard passes. Repetitive, predictable and stale play calling has become UT's m.o.

My friends unless, some changes are made in the Coaching Staff, recruiting will become average. And let's face it, UT is usually lucky enough to win with our talent vs. our genius Coaching Staff. I know that sounds harsh but often the truth stings. Todays youth want a fast paced, active & aggressive football style. Ladies & gentlemen, UT has gotten into such a deep slow unaggressive offensive rut it has become obvious to even 8-10 year old fans what play will be next.

HE-L YES I AM A HUGE UT FAN, I SIMPLY WANT TO SEE UT'S FOOTBALL PROGRAM DO ALL ITS RESOURCES CAN PROVIDE. The current Coaching Staff, in particular CPF has allowed UT to fall behind by not pushing forward.
