Who remembers? Do you have the memory or read about it or have someone tell you? (I am relying on memory...it WAS Steve Kiner, wasn't it? )
I was 6 at the time and vaguely remember it. My in-depth knowledge of it comes from reading about it dozens of times in the book The Big Orange

Humble man showed his competitive grit and torched UT all over the field 38-0 😂. It was Kiner, UT fans wore buttons to game saying Archie Who?

Kiner was the one who said in preseason that Ole Miss “played us like a bunch of mules” the season before. He didn’t say “Archie Who?” That was on buttons worn by Tennessee fans.

That rings true.

Was a freshmen student and saw Vols stomp Ole Miss 31-0 in Neyland in 1968 w Archie Manning at quarterback. Vols were riding high at 7-0 in 1969 going down to Ole Miss, where we were beat down 38-0 to wreck an otherwise strong season. Part of Kiner’s “played like mules” insult was probably related to the 68 beat down. Ole Miss was our 3rd biggest rival at the time just behind Auburn at 2 and Bama top rival. Ole Miss gave us our only lose in 1965, a 14-13 upset in Neyland. And while J Vaught was their coach, Rebels had a very strong run in late 50’s thru mid 60’s.

I remember it well. What an absolutely miserable day. I was 13 at the time and was listening to the game with one of my buddies, who was a Bama fan. He was laughing.

I lived in Memphis and was going to Memphis State and I hated UT with a passion . Little brother-
big brother syndrome. All we heard was how Tn was going to kill Ole Miss. You cannot imagine What pleasure my family had in seeing ole miss kill UT. I remember it well. Times change and I moved to K-town. My son and daughter -in- law both have MBAs from UT and so we are a UT family now.

I was a soph and remember it well. As i said in an earlier thread, the rumor had started that wk that Doug Dickey was leaving for FL. We were highly ranked. No one believed he would leave for the low ranked gators. That, and Kiner's bulletin board words led to our horrible play that day. Give Archie credit though, he was a great scrambling QB

At UT then, living in Hess Hall. John Ward on the radio, everyone totally sure of winning, we really did have a tremendous team, the loss was devastating . We all just looked at each other, waiting for the pain to end. Had a Archie Who button for years, hurt every time I looked at it.

So I'm not the only one who remembers/lived these times.

I happened to be involved in a Scottish Rite program in Corinth Ms. As the score started coming in those of us from "above the border" tried every way in the world to fade into the background of the "home folks" celebrating. Bad Day.....

I was there. Recent grad from UT College of Pharmacy in Memphis. Drive down from Memphis was ecstatic...drive back was agonizing. Rebel flags blocked the sun.

Haven't seen anyone mention the small plane that flew over the Ole Miss campus a couple of days before the game dropping leaflets over the campus reading, "Archie Who? Archie Mud, That's who." Huge pep rally ensued Friday night before the game
