'26 AR DL Danny Beale (Ok State commit)

Danny is from my hometown, cross county plays in the smallest classification in the state so the competition level is very poor. I would love to see him in Tennessee orange but not sure he would contribute much.
We got a former 3 star DE taking snaps at DT this year.

The kid would contribute if he gave effort.

He can't help where he goes to school. He is currently 6'-3" and 300. The Vols desperately need big, hefty, strong defensive tackles. Basically an urgent situation and has/will cost the Vols this season.

In the SEC, especially, interior dline is critical for competing for 4 quarters. Always has been. The Vols need 8/10 quality dtackles that can play and rotate constantly. These games can get to 80 snaps and much more. They were literally sucking wind late in the UGA game. Could not get a stop when it counted. Edge rushers are great and everything, but you have to disrupt from the tackle position or you have little to no shot in the big games.

Fair point on the competition. I think the below eval from 247 is why he’s rated very highly. Size + athleticism + traits usually lead to results:

DaQuan JonesTENNESSEE TITANS

- Versatile small-school beast who impacts games in a variety of ways.
- North of 300 pounds with a corresponding frame.
- Could play either way in college, but projects to the interior defensive line.
- Displays impressive functional athleticism that shows in movement ability and pursuit range on defense, as well as flashes of offensive playmaking; one example of the latter being a 20-yard jump-ball TD catch between a pair of defenders in Fall 2024.
- Displays redirecting twitch and heavy hands, which are more consistent in offensive context.
- Encouraging short-area quickness and body control relative to size.
- Quite raw technically. Ideally will expand move set as a rusher, though ultimate role could be an interior space eater.
- Plays basketball and has gotten limited shot put and discus reps to boost athletic profile.
- Will need time to develop physically and technically, but possesses valuable traits that point to a high-major D-line piece who checks boxes in traits, multi-phase, multi-sport, and functional athleticism categories to suggest significant long-term potential.

Even last year, as good as Big O and Eli Simmons were, you could see the difference between our interior d-line going up against Ohio State vs Michigan's big uglies. It would be nice to have some Mason Graham-level guys in Knoxville, or just some more Norman-Lotts for that matter.

Since we have the greatest D-line coach of all time. I am still trying to figure out why we aren't loaded at DT.

I think we're getting more interior guys in these last couple classes, and you see the difference that CRG development can make with a prospect like Nate Robinson. It is surprising it's taking longer to get to a not just good but elite level there when it seemed like we were borderline elite at edge almost immediately.
