I'll open this up for any other people that need help with other appliances, but I was looking for some recommendations on some good freezers (upright or chest).

I was looking a Whirlpool 20 cf upright, but it looks like they will be back ordered until February.

Good luck on getting a freezer. They are still tough to find. We closed on a house end of March and looked at them pre lockdown but I had nowhere to put one at the time and thought I'll be able to come back in a couple weeks and get one. I got a 5cf at Lowe's a couple months ago, would have liked a 7 but it was the first one I'd seen in 4-5 months. Dumbest part was it was on sale, made no sense.

The panic coupled with plants being shut down or throttled down due to the virus make getting one new about impossible as of right now.

You may try a smaller independent chain to see if you have any luck but February or beyond may be the case for everyone.

We were looking at getting one late last winter just in case one of ours (we have 5) goes down but then like toilet paper they disappeared overnight.

All of ours are 35-40+ years old so were just hoping they keep on chugging along. It's kinda nervwracking if the power goes down. Hoping they come back on once the power does.

I won't be able to get one now because I dragged my feet too long. That's why I am now having to wait until February.

In the mean time, I'm still hoping to get some advice, please.

Good luck! And if you come across a seller who will carry into the house, including stairs, please let me know. Ours will have to go in the basement, and I might as well wear a leper bell when I try to find delivery that will do this.

This must be a regional problem. Just checked Home Depot and 5cu ft available today in stock, 14 cu ft deliver by Nov 17, 24 cu ft deliver by Nov 17.

What do you guys do with so many freezers? Hunters?

Online info usually isn't accurate. What region are you? Supplies in Middle TN are getting short on upright freezers. Chest freezers still have a good supply left, however.

Sounds like a chest freezer... those are available. The upright freezers are what is low.

Yes those were chest freezers. I'm in Eugene OR

Just out of curiosity I'll check on uprights.

Looks like 147 upright freezers in stock at "near by" HD stores. Near by the max distance was 56 miles.

Also showing plenty available by Nov 17th via internet.

There's been a nationwide shortage for certain appliances like freezers for months. It's starting to settle back down but at one point Lowe's stopped taking orders because they had no idea when supply would pick up. Full truckloads of a single sku would be gone in a day for tagged orders

It's really interesting what items were bought to adjust to the pandemic. I know a lot of people started "canning" and mason jars were in short supply. And of course that leads to the need for freezer space. Interesting.

The one that cracked me up was "top ramen". That stuff flew of the shelves last winter.

The Lowe's here was just putting them down on the floor near the cabinet area and not even indicating what they were. They have other stuff where freezers used to be. I just happened upon the one I bought because I wondered what was in those big boxes. I think for a while they were coming off the truck and being immediately bought. I know you haven't been able to order one online in quite a while.
