Everytime we win one does not mean we do not need a new coach. She hasn't set the world on fire considering the talent in any of the previous years she has been there. The SEC was weak a couple of those years and when you look past the SEC and the cupcakes you will see she is 0 for Notre Dame. I think she has one win over Texas and three losses. One win over Stanford and three losses. So were 2 and 10 against teams we used to beat handily every season. Her overall record means nothing if she can't beat the elite teams in the nation more than 2 times out of 10. Add 0 and 2 versus Maryland in the NCAA. We still need a change.

I totally agree! Vanderbilt is not that good this season. I just don't see Holly leading this program back to a National power. We need a new coach after this season. Someone who can recruit, develop talent, instill confidence in the ladies and someone who can install a legitimate offense.Tennessee has all the tools to be a successful program. I tried to support this coaching staff as long as possible, but I been took off my orange colored glasses. Holly has talent yearly, but always underachieve. Tennessee's guard play has been suspect for years and every one knows its about the guards in the NCAA Tournament. This team struggles against to many teams they should blow out.

Give Holly and staff some credit were certainly playing better. She made some huge mistakes in her substitution pattern in the A&M game or that would have been a win. I think we have a chance to upset SC will need everybody to bring their A game but it could happen.

What ? It was a bad Vandy team and they tried every way possible to give the game to Vandy. It was a 6-8 point lead with 2-3 min left. Holly sucks period and no matter how people try to spin it. Holly is taking a once proud national power and turning it into a complete embarrassment. They will get an early exit from the NCAA tourney.

Yes I meant they suck better than they used to and yes it has been an embarrassing season to be ranked number three and find your team in the middle of the SEC.

As long as Holly is the coach this is only going to get worse. She got the job because she was in the right spot at the right time.

it just sounds like that coach is just using the question to get a raise, can't blame him for that :)

TNative: Love the urban legend that just because you are a former player you become a great coach. Nope. All those in coaching are far worse tan Holly and ver much worse than the current assistants who are the main problem and are former players.

We need to go outside the program and get the best youngish coach we can find--someone smart and dynamic and tough. We are missing all three of those qualities now.

I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell that he would come. That said . . . It would be a great improvement.

This program is going to be in a shambles before Dave Hart is forced to make a move. I think a couple more years. Two straight years of no recruits coupled with horrendous coaching. It will be like the program has received the "death penalty."

Why on earth would he even consider Tennessee? No offense, but they are going in a great direction under Walz, and he's brought that program to the top, or close to it. Also, L'ville has great facilities, play at the Yum center - an amazing arena. 2 programs going in different directions for sure.

Having said that, he doesn't deny at all that he's considering Tennessee. "We're focused on Pitt right now"? Good grief. That's the standard line of a football coach just before he quits to go to a new program. We can only pray.

BTW Walz makes about $800,000 per year not counting all the other endorsements. Tennessee certainly could afford that, but I have to think they'd need to give him $1.3-1.5M to lure him away. Unless he thinks our history is enough to make the jump...

To me it's kinda like Saban to Bama, strictly in regards to where the potential program you jump to is in current standing. Obviously Walz would leave a great situation where Saban left a failure in the NFL. But the allure of a blue-blood program has to be enticing. WBB will never be revered at UofL like it is at UT. Do 12k+ show up at the Yum Center if UofL has an avg to mediocre season? Will their fans travel to the ends of the earth to follow them on the road like UT? Seeing Diddle Arena in Bowling Green packed in 2009 for a 10-11 loss LV team reminded me how strong the support is for this program. Every conference and NCAA tournament game you play in, this fanbase makes you feel like you're in TBA. That only happens at a select few places.

Any coaching search should begin and end with Walz; with Walz on a plane in an orange shirt (cause he'll never wear a tie).

Has Walz ever beaten UConn? Even with all the talent he gets, he is consistently outcoached.

We need a coach who can do more with less.

He is not the answer. There are much better coaches, including Michelle Clark-Heard at Western Kentucky and Karl Smesko at Florida Gulf Coast.

I'd be happy to see Barney Fyfe take over the reins as coach. We already are a laughing stock in women's basketball, so we might as well all have a laugh at least during the game.

if beating Geno regularly is the criteria then we might as well shut the program down. Louisville has never had anywhere near the talent of UT much less UCONN.

I didn't ask if he regularly beat UConn. I asked if he has ever beaten UConn. Muffett has with less talent. So has C. Vivian Stringer, Kim Barnes-Arico, Tara, etc.

I don't know what is going on, but I do believe he was contacted or his agent by someone on Tennessee's side. I just can't see this just being made up. With the scandal going on at Louisville on the men's side, I could see him leaving. Even though the Lady Vols are having a terrible season, the Lady Vols brand, fan base, alumni and the resources at Tennessee are strong. Tennessee is still #2 in attendance which might be one of the worse seasons in a very long time. That's probably the only way Holly is fired, if the boosters put pressure on the athletic department. Even with the win over Vanderbilt, I'm still not convinced. Let's see how the Lady Vols do post season. Jeff Walz has taken a team full of freshmen and sophomores and have them playing way better basketball this season than a more experience and talented Lady Vol team. He have sign a top 3 recruiting class the last two seasons. I just don't understand how some fans believe that Holly and this staff will lead this program back to the top.

Walz has never beat UCONN, but neither as either of the coaches you mentioned. Yes, Arico beat UCONN on a desperation three point shot several years back, but since becoming the head coach at Michigan she really hasn't done **** there. Since 2008-2009 season, there have been a grand total of only 4 head coaches who have beat UCONN. Three of those, Muffet, Mulkey, and Tara all had stacked rosters when they were able to defeat the Huskies, but all three of those coaches will retire at their respective university. I agree with you that the two coaches you mentioned would be great choices as Tennessee's head coach, but as it stands now, both FGCU and WKU would be hammered by UCONN by 20+ points.

As far as Walz is concerned, I wouldn't throw him out quite yet. I love his offensive style. Remember the NCAA tournament game where he shocked women's college basketball and took out a Griner and Simms led Baylor team, which also caused the glamorous Kim Mulkey to nearly come clean out of her tights. He also hammered Tennessee to make the final four in that same tournament. That huge win he had against Baylor is enough for me to get excited as our possible next head coach. Also, it's incredibly hard to recruit at Lousiville. They are not a traditional WCBB powerhouse, but yet he has been able to keep them a consistent top ten team for awhile. He would recruit great at Tennessee.

With all this said, I still support Holly and hope she can turn things around. I'm more worried about the lack of recruits for 2016, because if she strikes out again in 2017, it's pretty much a wrap for Tennessee Lady Vol basketball for the foreseeable future..

If Walz can make two title games, then he has the talent to win a title. He has very talented teams but when Geno shuts down his first option, his team's spiral out of control. Those title games were both BLOWOUTS. I could see Walz getting the Lady Vols to the FF, but I don't think he knows how to make in-game adjustments and I stand by that. And the game his team but Baylor, they were extremely hot and the refs refused to call fouls on them.

In all honesty, the coach who would be best for UT is Kim Mulkey. I enjoy watching her teams play and her passion fits the UT brand. Of course, Baylor is a better program than UT and she already out-recruits us. There is no incentive for her to leave, but she's a hell of a good coach. Top 4 for sure.

My wife and I are examples of those who will travel when ever the LV are remotely close to the St. Louis area to see them. There are a lot of St. Louis LV fans who support the LV. We love our Lady Vols, like most LV fans we would like to see a better coached team. Right now, Holly does not seem to be the coach to make this a better team.

In reality, every outstanding player in Tennessee should have the LV's at the top of their list, however, can this coaching staff make that happen? If this program takes another recruitment rejection, which would be a shame, Holly needs to immediately be shown the door. She has had more than enough time. This really appears to be a failed experiment.

Pat faced Geno in the title game four times, and lost them all. Guess we should have replaced her sooner....

Last month, from a head coach in the top girls' basketball county in TN, words that likely never would've been uttered when Pat was coaching:

“Look at what’s she’s accomplished,” said Oakland girls coach Jennifer Grandstaff of Dangerfield. “She’s won state championships. She’s a UConn signee. She’s set the stage for a lot of young athletes in our area and kids playing today.

“They are in awe of her. It’s been great for our county.”

ALL-USA Watch: UConn-bound Crystal Dangerfield might be best ever from Tennessee | USA Today High School Sports

Dangerfield is the first player from Tennessee, home of the Lady Vols, to play for UConn. Just imagine for a moment how a modern day Jen Rizzotti wearing orange might play out in the Nutmeg State.

"I've been hearing some things, mostly playful," said Dangerfield, who said her admiration for Candace Parker originally attracted her to Tennessee. "I just kind of laugh it off. What [the decision] proved is that I am my own person and will do what I feel is best for me.

"I liked Tennessee until I saw Maya Moore and Tina Charles play. That's when I started to like UConn."

relative to Geno/UConn has been wanting for a long time. We had a veteran team one year and lost to Diana Taurasi and a bunch of UConn freshmen. PS was a women's basketball pioneer--and legend, yes--but the offensive side of the game passed her/us by a long time ago.

A thought crossed my mind today wondering whether the alleged contact between our boosters and Walz can in anyway be tied to the pending Title IX claim against UT which is in effect serving as a mechanism to get rid of Dave Hart and Jimmy Cheek.

I'll let you connect your own dots there--and there are multiple paths to get to my theory.
