This is an excerpt from Rivals Sports regarding coaches that won't succeed:

Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee – Does anyone really think this is going to get better? In a world where buyouts didn't matter, would this even be a question? It could be time for the Vols to move on and find their next head coach.

Pruitt has shown nothing to make anyone think otherwise.

Year two is critical in the rebuilding of a college football team. Great coaches see huge progress by end of year two. With the exception of Swinney (in the last 30 years) all great coaches turned the corner in year two. See Saban at LSU & BAMA, SOS at Duke and UF, Bob Stoops, Urban at BG, Utah, and UF, Richt at UGA, Pete Carroll at USC, Franklin at Vandy and Pedo State, Mullin at MSU & UF, Smart at UGA, Cristobal at Oregon, Stallings at BAMA.

CJP is NOT making the cut thus far

Again - If you do not give him legitimate time then a good coach is not going to want to come here.

Very poor analysis by Rivals on Coach Pruitt. First, Coach Pruitt inherited the worst situation in the history of Vol football left by former Coach Butch Jones. This includes players with poor speed, not of SEC qualified skills and a team with a poor attitude and desire to play and win. Coach Pruitt really had no time for his first recruiting class. He is playing freshmen and slowly building an offensive and defensive line of height and size. You can not do this in 2 years either as Rivals has overlooked. Speaking of attitude, did anyone notice that while Georgia State was thrashing our team that there were Coach Jones players sitting on the bench in conversation and laughing? Laughing while getting thrashed...that is a very poor attitude. If Mauer continues to improve at QB and these young freshmen get experience and will some more good players, Coach Pruitt will shove the words of Rivals down their throat next year.

Disproven. Several times. On these very boards.

What percentage of coaches and top tier assistants would answer the following question in the affirmative: “If you are the coach at Tennessee, and only win two games, would you expect to be fired?” I believe the vast majority would say yes. Now we haven’t ended the season yet. But I think a two win season is highly likely at this point.

Yes. We've gotten better every game this year. No doubt the bar was set at the bottom with GS. We've got too many good players, coaches with legit resumes, money, great fan support, etc. to not having the ingredients of a great program. (VFL's - NegaVols = Great Fan support)
