This is one of my pet peeves of the offseason - blahblahblah beat blahblahblah therefore blahblahblah. Usually, it's folks just looking at raw stats without doing any real thinking or examining their conclusions.

I watched every single App game last year (had to watch some on TV). App is IMO not a top 50 team yet. Yes, we're better than we were. Yes, I'm expecting a solid G5 season. No, we're not better than A&M.

Less than 24 hours to football!

But, but.... you guys lost to Arkansas State last year, who lost to Louisiana Tech, who lost to Western Kentucky, who lost to Indiana, who lost to Duke, who lost to Northwestern, who we beat.

Therefore, we will win tonight.

The re-rank is a poll of all 128 FBS schools with a plus-minus column indicating how much each team has risen or dropped from USA TODAY's final ranking of last season.

Appalachian State is at No. 43, ahead of SEC schools Texas A&M (No. 46), Mississippi State (55), Kentucky (74), Vanderbilt (79), South Carolina (84) and Missouri (87).

The Mountaineers are also ahead of Tennessee's other non-conference FBS opponents, Virginia Tech (57) and Ohio (78).

Tennessee comes in at No. 12 in the poll, up 13 spots from last season.

They are on par with Vandy, South Carolina and Kentucky...

Ought to be ranked higher than Tennessee. Physically beat UT up all night and clearly should've won the game. Apologies are in order from me which I offer now. You certainly didn't get the Tennessee team that I and other Vol fans thought you were gonna get. App State should've won the game and if not for your freshman kicker and some really bad breaks, you would have. Your coaches out coached ours, your players outplayed ours.

Wish you luck the rest of the season. Unfortunately for you, I don't know how much you can take from the game last night.....we're not a very good football team.
