'25 App State Transfer QB Joey Aguilar (Tennessee)

We needed a QB. It’s more than a 1 million discount over what we had. And you’re complaining?

Starting QBs aren’t cheap. Given the reports Nico got 1.5 from UCLA it would make sense if Aguilar was offered something similar to be their starter.
Complaining??? Hardly. I'd consult Webster on the definition. That's the problem with this forum. Too often, anything other than blind praise and falling in line is automatically assigned a negative designation. Bringing it up as a discussion point isn’t complaining.

It’s obviously a complaint. Explain your complaint. We needed a starting QB. They’re not cheap. We saved money. The options were limited.

What’s the complaint?

Of course you can. I’m not saying it’s an impossible task, but 3.5 months vs a full offseason presents an uphill battle relative to the QBs with a full or multiple offseasons in the same offense.

Sure but on that same line of thinking, two full seasons of game experience is worth way more than 1 year of practice throwing routes on air.

It isn't a complaint. So, no, it's not "obvious", either. If you came into it looking for a complaint, that's on you. It isn’t my money, so what would I even have to logically complain about?

Yes, we needed a starting QB. The starting QB landscape was pretty settled at the time he entered. What other P4 schools were in the market in late April? Who were we competing with to drive that price to $1.5 mil? I guess I'm just shocked it took that kind of offer to land him at the time it occurred. But I'm not complaining that it took that kind of money.

Idk his options. Nor do you. But I know our options and it wasn’t much.

Yeah he was a 5 star and played well in the bowl game against a good Iowa defense.

And Nico flashed more in garbage time throughout the year.

Merk has thrown 9 passes.
That Iowa defense was good bc of schedule they played
While yea we were missing players Iowa wasn’t very good
He also didnt throw well in that game also
Nico is not the guy imo
Be better off without him

You're right that neither of us knew his options, which is the entire reason why I brought it up as a discussion point that you hastily and improperly labeled as "complaining", which is such a strange hill to die on. You could just admit you were wrong and move on.

It's also funny that you'd readily admit to not knowing his options but in the same breath so confidently claim to have known Tennessee's options (which you don't).

In two seasons in the SEC, here are Manziels stats: 69%, 7820 yards, 63 TDs, 22 INTs, 9.1 Y/A, 300 YPG. 2169 yards rushing, 30 TDs and 6 ypa.

Aguilars two seasons in the Sun Belt: 60%, 6760 yards, 56 TDs, 24 INTs, 8 Y/A, 270 YPG. 452 yards rushing, 5 TDS and 3 ypa.

That numbers say it.

There's a Grand Canyon-esque gulf between those rushing stats. I dont think that can be ignored. Let alone the important fact that one was in the SEC and one was in the Sun Belt.
