App St coach compares Vols/Clemson

Thanks Coach and well, guess we would compare App State to Vandy.

That coach seems like he's got things straight. I hope they win every game after Thursday.

Scott Satterfield is a class act. He runs a well-disciplined, hardworking team and expects great things from the kids on and off the field.

App's summer conditioning program is a contest between "teams" of players. The competition obviously has a strong S&C component. The other facets of the competition are classroom success and community service. Our coaches and players are well aware that very few of them will have meaningful NFL careers. Therefore, the coaches coach much more than x's and o's. It's great to be a Mountaineer!

The only downside to having a solid coach like Satterfield at our level is that he's likely to be lured away at some point for bigger and better.

122 hours to kickoff ... but who's counting?

We've been hearing about DeBord & Stripling being a part of the 2007 Michigan team but Nick Sheridan was also there at the time. He had walked on as a Freshman QB in 2006. Lloyd Carr (122-40) retired at the end of that infamous 2007 campaign and RR went 3-9 the next year, 2008, to begin the disastrous RichRod/BradyHoke reign of error for the big blue.

Carr's last team, that 2007 bunch, ended up 9-4 on the year with a #9 ranking after beating defending National Champs Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow in the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day, 2008.

I'm thinking in a crazy world given our situation would I give up an upset to Appalachian State if in the grand scheme it would guarantee us a victory over Florida? :ermm:

Sounds like a guy who knows he's about to get his ass kicked. Acceptance promotes healing....smart move

Here's to hoping App State plays great football and makes a game of it. Why would a rabid Vol fan make such a wish? There's no telling how V-Tech will play our guys 9 days later, so revealing what needs to be tweaked will help UT win before the largest crowd in CFB history. Satterfield's a class man and clearly has a bright future and...for your sake AppFan82, I hope he sticks around and makes APSU a juggernaut in your conference.

Said that Tennessee has a good team.

And is as good as Clemson was last year, IF NOT BETTER.

I believe that too, but to hear a head coach say that about an upcoming opponent is huge.

And...Butch said yada, yada, yada (*insert generic accolade here) 'bout App State...

Both statements + $5 will get you a cup of coffee @ Starbucks.

What's he supposed to say?

Saying this, his team looks great if they compete well and has a ready "reason" if UT blows them out. If he says UT isn't as good then he provide bulletin board material AND makes his team look really bad if UT wins big.

Nice for him to say.... but not wise to put too much into it.

Satterfield is a realist. He knows the odds are stacked against his team rather mightily. He's also a competitor. I'd expect App to give TN the best we've got at this point in the season. I'd also expect TN to win by quite a bit.
