This couldn't have happened more perfect.

Yes, our team came out sleeping. Overlooked a team they shouldn't have in preperation for what will be the biggest game in the entire History of Football.

But this shock to the system is exactly what the team needed and exactly at the perfect time.

If we came out and just blew them away, we could very well still have the attitude that we are so good that all we have to do is show up. If we still had that overconfidence going to Bristol. And in turn cost us that game.

But now with reality check over..the team can put in the effort to meet the talent.

The fire is lit now..they will redouble effort so as not be be embarrassed again.

Mark my words the team that almost lost to App St will not be the same team that shows upto Bristol and destroys VT.

And when it is all over we can thank App St for being as good as they are, and giving us the wake up call we needed at the perfect time so that now we can realize the dream of wining the east and possibly a playoff burst.

Watch the film of our offensive line and then get back to me with this positive stuff. We have big time problems.

The only positive to be taken from the game is we won. The offense is more than capable of playing better and need to absolutely bring their "A" game against VT. If they do not, we will lose by multiple scores.

Multiple scores?? I dont know about that. Even if the offense were to struggle (which I dont think it will), I dont think their offense is potent enough to light our D up. Appy St has a much better QB and RB than VT does and they did they needed a miracle, Manziel like fluke from God pass to score the second TD. They did absolutely jack in the second half. It could happen but highly unlikely that VT beats us by multiple score regardless of the scenarios.

If our offense has another putrid repeat performance against VT, then a 14+ loss is highly possible. IMO, I do not believe we will see a poor effort like that again. Hope not anyway.

Down the stretch when depth would make a the difference Appy St would cramp up and give their defense a rest. Our Oline wasn't prepared for such an undersized quick Dline and add their LBs crashing the line to stop yet another predictable run and so you get what we got a dog fight till the very end.

This is not the best way for Thursday to happen. Had we scored the last two times we had the ball in regulation rather than punting then that would have been the best, early scare thru halftime and then come out guns a blazing and dogs a biting.

Bring on VTech, they are in for some trouble, big trouble.

The Bear did it. Spurrier did it. General Neyland did it. Tom Osborne did it. Mack Brown did it. Woody Hayes did it. Bo Shembechler did it. Bobby Bowden did it. So...............when Butch Jones sits on the play book; first game of the season versus a team he's supposed to put away with ease.....yet manages to win just as normally did the aforementioned coaching legends...what's the big deal? Kids, each and every day prior to kickoff in Bristol our worthy opponents coaches are going to be guessing most all the time about what they'll be confronting in that game; what to practice; what to implement as plans B and C, etc. None of our throw game strategies have been revealed. Trick plays? Puleeeeeez! Read options? Nada. Now, did our guys come out flat versus a highly motivated bunch? Yep. Did our bigger-than-life heros find themselves being run over and embarrassed through most of the game? Yep...again. Let it go. It's not going to matter and, as OP stated: It should've lit a fire underneath our men in orange. Here's what counts: UT won and, in the process, VT has pitifully little to work with in preparing for team 120. If you asked them...I'm sure they'd agree. AMIRIGHT?

Yep, seen this before and glad we won. We barely beat a terrible Air force team in 06, we lost to a crappy Memphis team in 97.....with Peyton Manning at QB. We will be fine.

The vols were just flat and overconfident against little app state---they'll pick it up big against Va Tech and win in a blowout!

All the crying seems to be coming from the old cats.
'Not true junior. Your post status reveals you've not been around VN for any time. Stick around and you'll pick up on the crybabies here......and almost all of them are at least 29 years too young to be considered old. Losers hate winners. Negs despise pumpers. Make mine high test.:yahoo:
