Speaking of living in the past, why do so many vol fans think that we use to be something we weren't? Let me explain before getting slammed. 98 was a very special year. The Peyton era was awesome. But, we've been playing football for 112 seasons and of those 112, only 19 have ended up with double digit wins....19!!! I guess what I'm getting at is, 9 wins should technically be considered as being "back". Now, we shouldn't have lost to vandy and sc (and wouldn't have barring injuries), but other than that I don't see these issues with coach jones being realistic. He's gotten us back. And if we stay at 8-10 wins for a while before breaking through with that one special team...I'm a happy fan. I'm a VFL and want to be undefeated every year, but I'm also realistic. Our time will come. As of now, enjoy the fact that we have a chance to win every game we play in. Not so long ago, it wasn't like that at all. Don't forget. GBO!!! Beat Nebraska!!

Don't even try. Half the posters who post here only do it to whine. Bringing legit thoughts to the board would destroy the misery some of these people love so much.

Not disagreeing with you, but I would like to point out that in 32 of those seasons we played less than 10 games. Add to that that 25 seasons we only played 10. Hell it was only sometime in the early 2000's when the schedule expanded to 12, not sure when it went to 11, but i would guess 60's or 70's. I am only talking about regular season games by the way.

This, 9-2 looks pretty good when you play 11 games.

I do love how these threads start out on subject THEN take on a life of their own. Never know where this long and winding road will end up. Oh yeah I read recently where the brain consumes 20% of the body's daily energy. Must be some really refreshed, rested Vol fans up in here.
Figured "what the heck lets turn this ship in another direction!!!"

Great points. And keep in mind the 12th game is a cupcake game. In the days of old, this would have been a 7-4 team as TN Tech wouldn't have been on the schedule.

Anyway, all that's in the past. Beat Nebraska and turn the page to '17.

Actually you should know which direction threads take a turn too. Always towards negative UT bashing. That's what they do. Even on Christmas.

Not sure if they have the Internet.

Maybe now, 2017 internet was rumored in Nebraska after huge request to Charter and AT&T. Scheduled for late January installation at which time they will find out how bad they were beaten and then cancel all the requests.

Any chance to watch Dobbs, Barnett, Kamara (most likely), Sutton, ect play football again for the Orange and White, I'm gonna take it. They are an absolute pleasure to watch.

After all the adversity, media, and other distractions,
let's not forget the one unifying theme that
ties both Tennessee and Nebraska together this year...

Corn.

That's right, corn.

Nebraska removes husks from corn and we, Tennessee, get our corn from a jar.

Go Vols!
