I honestly believe that Vol fans are so disgusted after the last decade of tennessee football that we have reached a new precipice.
When we hired Dooley and Jones we all had doubts about the quality of their resume. We all accepted that maybe they were that diamond in the rough. The fans and players rallied around them and supported them.
They failed miserably.
A new AD entered, but is restrained and controlled by the same blight that has lead to the last two failures.
When a third poor hire was attempted, the fans rose up in a last ditch effort to try to lead as our own leadership is failing.
Our AD has abysmal approval record and no one has confidence in his abilities.
The next step is apathy. Like me, many fans are starting to want to throw in the towel. With this comes lower ticket sales, empty seats, and falling donations. These things WILL HAPPEN.
The administration and boosters (other than Haslam) have an opportunity to take control and lead the next hires (HC and AD). If they are successful hearts, minds, and monies will follow.
If haslam is allowed to keep control, we are not going to get the type of coach we need and apathy will set in.
The academic side needs the money and excitement that football brings to the university. It is time they recognize and respect it.
