I had plans that prevented me from seeing the USC-NCST game, so I don't know for sure, but maybe others have an idea. My wild guess would be that NCST is getting higher scores on voters' eye tests than Tennessee is getting so far. That would make sense, at least. So Lady Vols Lose to a team 1 spot behind them at their place and drop 4 spots. NC St loses to a team 9 places behind them and drops 1 spot. Hhhmmm
I think some of it is historical also. The LVs burned a lot of pollster goodwill in the last few Harper years by being what Charlie Cream called, accurately, consistently underwhelming. So Lady Vols Lose to a team 1 spot behind them at their place and drop 4 spots. NC St loses to a team 9 places behind them and drops 1 spot. Hhhmmm

I also believe the “legacy” of the Lady Vol name may have gotten them in the dance during some of those years coached by those mentioned above. We get absolutely no grace from the poll voters and haven’t for a decade. Burned them too many times with Kellie and Holly starting in the Top 10 and then dropping all the way out of the Top 25.
It was pretty clear to me to begin with. The four that jumped up are undefeated and it wouldn’t make sense to put UT over NCSU right now. All things considered, the original question I posed is the only relevant one to your initial gripe: I asked “ Which teams currently ranked below NCSU would you rank above them?” Because that was the premise of your original post, that NCSU didn’t drop as far as UT did. Can’t get anything past you…. But to help clear it up for you. Baylor, USC, Maryland and UNC all jumped the Lady Vols while they lost to a #9 team and NCState loses to a #18 team.
