53 man rosters. The Lions brought in Teddy Bridgewater last year for the playoffs because they didn't want to risk Hooker having to play. When u can make 10 x as much being a backup in the nfl vs all the other options you mentioned, why do that ?

It's not as though there aren't extremely gifted QBs who ALSO want to make big money as NFL backups AND can prove themselves in the pre season.
You seem to think getting an NFL backup role is just a matter of showing up for a QB. You have to actually be able to play well.
Sadly, Hooker wasn't trusted last year in the playoffs and didn't do anything to increase that trust. Why would someone else pick him up or Detroit keep him?
Again, Hooker took a hit to his stock when the Lions brought in Bridgewater for the playoffs. That's an obvious: we don't really trust this guy to get it done.Hooker has played well when not injured or dealing with the lingering knee issues from South Carolina. Detroit isn’t a great fit, I hope if he is traded he goes to a team that better suits his play style.
He’s making too much money in the NFL, esp if he can make it to a 2nd contract.Honestly, and I don’t even mean this in an insulting way-I think he needs to consider the CFL or XFL. There’s no shame in playing in either league, and he may be more likely to succeed in them.
It’s hard to see him getting another NFL shot after last night. But then again, if Tim Boyle is still jumping around NFL rosters…….
He won't start immediately? Hooker isn't a QB1 in the NFL. He's not as good as any team's QB1. Not oneHe’s making too much money in the NFL, esp if he can make it to a 2nd contract.
Playing for someone other than Detroit would be an opportunity for Hooker. He won’t start immediately for the new team but he could be a backup and possibly receive more reps if the starter goes down or plays badly. There are some bad QBs out there but Goff isn’t one of them.
Unfortunately, I missed the games tonight. Judging by the box scores, it seems like no one really stood out.
Hooker completed 7 of 10 passes for 38 yards and added 27 yards on 3 carries. Kyle Allen had better stats with 7 of 10 for 120 yardsbut threw two interceptionsand two touchdowns.
Looking at the numbers, Dobbs didn’t impress either, completing 5 of 12 passes for 45 yards.
In the Browns game, Dylan Sampson ran the ball twice for 6 yards.
Whew. The Browns played my Panthers with Cade Mays at Center. I was pissed in the draft when the panthers drafted UGA RB Etienne while Sampson who doubled his rushing yards lasy season in the same conference was still available. The Browns picked Sampson like 6 spots later than Etienne.
Panthers struck quickly to go up 7-0. Then our defense stopped the Browns and forced a punt. Etienne in his first game action tried to field a punt at OUR own 5yd line (big No no) and flubbed it because he heard footsteps and got scared....recovered by the Browns at our 3yd line. He handed the Browns a TD to tie the game at 7-7. Stupid UGA jackleg.
So while Sampson didnt do much in his 2 carries....at least he didnt score a TD for the other team like the guy the Panthers ignorantly drafted over him in Etienne.
I'd love to have him on staff here with Huepel...seeing he had the most success running that offense, he could probably add a lot to our QB room in terms of though process and running the offense...Honestly, and I don’t even mean this in an insulting way-I think he needs to consider the CFL or XFL.
