With his two best weapons leaving for the NFL this year (I know Devine rocks) does anyone think that maybe he would take the job after Fulmer goes 4-8? I think he would be a good choice and he runs the spread.

It's not hard to find a Pat White. They already have Noel Devine to replace Steve Slaton. He turned down Alabama last year, so no, I don't see him leaving WVU for UT.

No, but I do think Jim Leavitt could be bought and he does run a spread offense...quite effectively. Nobody wants any part of USF!

No, because he knows he can win where he's at for some time. He also makes good money.

I wouldn't want him anyway.

Running the spread isn't the answer.Getting some big john henderson type players to disrupt it is.I don't agree that the spread will take over. It's a fad, defenses will catch up to it.Exacution is the key to everything.Remember those mid 90's nebraska teams.Teams knew they were going to run right at them but they couldn't stop it.Because they exacuted the offense right.Urban is having his time in the sun right now.But you better believe teams will start to catch up to his gimmicke offense.

I don't see it as a gimmick...it works because it is harder to defend against. The Nebraska offense was special b/c they did execute to a high percentage and recruited well for that offense...why don't more teams run it if it was or is the thing to do?

Why would he leave WVU and come to Tennessee where he has to play Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina every year when he can demolish his conference by fielding a decent team at WVU?? Besides, he makes good money and they love him there. I just don't see it.

Me neither! If were going to change lets get a real coach in here.If and when the vacancy happens, I grant you UT will get numerous "silent" applications so to speak of top, top coaches.

agree

wishbone was unstoppable, until it got stopped.

option was unstoppable, until it got stopped.

west coast offense was unstoppable, until it got stopped.

spread will get stopped. tune in to LSU vs the Gators.

plus i don't think that the spread will last because recruits will want to play what the pros use, and they won't want to risk their pro career by taking the beating as a spread QB.

TN could win the SEC with the single wing, if they executed it properly and more importantly played well on D and special teams.

i believe any coach would jump at an opportunity to coach at UT because we have one of the biggest fan bases in the country and it is all about football in Knoxville, well not too much now, but i think a coach like Rich Rod would jump at the opportunity to coach at a school where 110,000 fans show up every saturday

UT is a much more appealing job in my opinion anyway. We've had success more recently than them and more talent. Our fan base isn't near as delusional.. plus who would want to live in Alabama?

But to the point - I doubt he would come here, but it's worth a try.

I hope we dont go after him. He is nowhere near the best candidate.

We need to start a fundraiser and get together a huge chunck of money to pry Stoops away from Oklahoma. Not going to happen, but we can hope.

Bob Stoops would be awesome...but that will never happen unless Fla offered him 4-5 Mill. And I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Fully agree. The key to stoping this offense will be pressuring the football as soon as the ball is snapped. Pressure not Containing the play.

LSU may well be able to stop the spread solely due to having superior athletes on defense; but so far no one seems to have come up with a way to stop it when the athletes on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball have similar talent levels.
