Anyone still worried about Azzanni?

I would have probably agreed with both of you until it was recently made public that Bajakian's departure was to be kept a secret until after NSD. Unfortunately for that plan Miami leaked the info. How do we know a similar arrangement wasn't made for Azzanni and they've managed to keep that one a secret?

Miami? UM or the Dolphins?

Coach Z is there and tweeting. I would be surprised if he leaves. I would also be surprised if he isn't at least named Co-OC when the hire is finally made.

Yeah I just can't see him being this pumped and excited about our class unless he was remaining with UT. I'm gonna call it I think he's been promoted in some capacity!

I posted that in another thread.

AD Hart has to be in this plan.

DeBord as OC for a year or 2 while coach Z gets better trained to become our next OC.

Coach Z stays as WR coach and recruiting coordinator while he trains up to OC position.

AD Hart moves DeBord to a admin position when coach Z becomes OC in a year or 2.

This also gives coach Z time to train up our next recruiting coordinator.

We get a Graduate Assistant as the QB coach maybe even Justin Worley.

DeBord could be a big help to make our O line and TE's better too.

Also his NFL experience and contacts could help with recruiting.

It's a logical plan if this is actually the plan buTch has.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

This doesn't sound bad....all but the GA coaching QB. We need a QB coach, period. Something will have to be rearranged, make debord the ol coach and fire our current one or something.

He was on WNML around 2 p.m.

Said recruiting next year would be very exciting for him because they would be focusing on W.R.s
To fill the departing SR.s.

Sounded like he would be here.
EDIT: 1:30 p.m. In case someone would like to hear.

Who coaches qbs in this scenario? Neither Z nor DeBord can.

Allow me to introduce myself and present my resume. I believe you will be quite impressed.

Coach Klein

Work history:

1995-2002: Head Coach, South Central Louisiana State Mud Dogs

2002-present: Head Coach, Tennessee Volunteers (PlayStation 2-3, NCAA series)

Accomplishments:

Won National Championship with ILB/Head Hydration expert Bobby Boucher at SCLSU

13 time National Recruiter of the year with UT (P)

13 time Top ranked recruiting class with UT (P)

As you can see my resume speaks for itself. I bring excellent recruiting skills with fictional people and often "work" late into the night/early morning. I'm a young go-getter who recently started doing his own laundry and moved out of his Mom's basement. I run an exciting offensive scheme featuring many backwards passes and runs designed to be run right into the back of your OG.

Later rednecks.

I heard Azzani on the radio earlier and he dodged questions about both CMU and UT's new OC. He was very professional about it, dodged it like a pro. All he said was advancing in the coaching profession is all about taking the right job at the right time, but was vague about what that meant within the context of the conversation. He was very upbeat and positive although I find it hard to believe he would be anything but that at the moment. My impression was that he just wasn't commenting on the CMU job, probably out of respect for CMU...my guess is that he either interviewed and didn't get the job or he was offered the job and turned it down. If he had no contact with CMU then I think it's perfectly professional to say there hasn't been any contact with them.

If he doesn't get the OC job it either means (IMO): Butch really likes the job he does as Recruiting Coord. and really doesn't want to have to replace him in that capacity -OR- Butch has some reason to believe maybe he's not the best fit as OC...maybe he's not the best playcaller or maybe Butch is just looking for a "QB coach" as OC and is not sure Azzani is the right guy to coach QBs. JMO though.

In my personal opinion, I believe Butch hires DeBord. With this being said, I believe he brings him in to mentor Azzani and they Co-Offensive coordinators. After a about 2 years, DeBord retires or joins a committee group and Azzani has expierence and we keep a fine young coach.

If that is in fact the case, then I am not against the Debord hire. I pray that you are right.

Look at what we just did on NSD and you'll understand how VERY valuable coach Z is to our top recruiting and building back up consistently to a top 10 program where we belong.

We MUST always try to keep our best recruiters!!!

“I have not spoken with CMU. We just had a top-five recruiting class in America. The foundation for that (class) began two years ago. Everyone in this state can sense where we’re going. It’s what I want to be a part of. You all know what we have coming back here and you know what we’re about to do here. It’s really as simple as that. I want to be a part of this.”
