I get so tired of hearing the hype for the Rose Bowl and how its the granddaddy of them all. The ESPN crew bowing down to USC. Don't get me wrong I think USC is an outstanding team but the media gets under my skin so bad that I want to boycott ESPN. I don't see why other conferences are not allowed to play in the Rose Bowl other than Pac-10 vs. Big 10. I think its super lame.

Sorry I just needed to vent because i have been brainwashed with Rose Bowl hype for the last month. Thank god its over, but now we gotta deal with the ESPN crew talking about how they should be national champs because they ran the score up on Penn St.

Only thing that pissed me off was the commercial and the grandaddy of them all part... plus I can't stand Musburger to begin with... then he made that one comment on how the SEC can't compete with the Pac-10 since they're 5-0.

Brent M. is an idiot.

Besides that I don't mind the Rose Bowl. Love the tradition.

And USC is that good. They'd beat Oklahoma by 3 td's.

It's been that way for a long time. I remember when UT was playing Nebraska in whatever bowl. The talk was that the Huskers would deserve NC recognition if they were to beat the Vols. The chairman or whatever of the Rose Bowl said the team that won his bowl is the champ, period. Essentially deemed our matchup meaningless.

Yea, that really was a biased comment. It will be interesting how ESPN will direct comments when this lucrative contract comes into play next year.

I just wish that the media would stop the biased journalism. I know it provides them money but it might cost me money when I have to get a shrink to unbrainwash me.

No one is disagreeing with the fact that USC is good but for them to claim that they won a bowl game that is not the national championship game so now they should be National champs is nothing more than asburd and wrong by all parts. its just sickening that if your are watching ESPN or their affiliates that is all you hear during bowl season.

Tired of two things:

1) Musburger with a Microphone anywhere near his mouth.

2) The Big 11 being a crap conference and laying an egg in the rose bowl every year.

Oh I agree...just saying that the whole dang system is flawed. Oklahoma should not be in the NCG..

The best thing I see coming out of it is that Playoff talk will continue to build. The other side is that with all the time off a lot of these games are not as good playing weeks after the season. Start the playoff's right away, use the bowls to do it or whatever. Just do it.

That was back when the Big 10 and Pac 10 / Rose Bowl refused to be part of the Bowl Alliance.

I think the playoff system would be the better system but going to bowl games is what people associate college football with. There is something special about bowl selection saturday when players await their matchups.

I really don't know. Do fans want to sacrifice tradition or do we want playoffs? It's a give and take situation.

The BOWLS are a money situation. That's what it's all about, period. Each BOWL is out to make money for only their bowl. Match up's only come into play as to how much money will that or this team bring in. Why had ND lost 9 bowls in a row.....overrated usually but bowls want them for the money. Besides the bowls can still be used, save the big one's for the final playoff games. People will still go see the Music City Bowl type games with teams that aren't near the top 10.

Seen 15 if that minutes of Rose Bowl. Wouldnt be suprised if USC is'nt ranked 2nd after NCG. Thats why I'm for plus 1 scenario.

i just joined Vn so im new to this but i use too live in Oklahoma and their fans are worse than bamas. they have no class, and if they lose its never their fault either the refs blew the game or the other team cheated. i hope the gators beat them by 20

I heard an announcer offer the best solution earlier, makes sense.....

We go back to the big 4 bowls, plus one new big bowl, a total of 5 major bowls:

1. Sugar
2. Orange
3. Rose
4. Cotton
5. Fiesta

You have the 6 major conference winners as automatic qualifiers, and four at large teams (highest BCS ranked)......

Then, you play all 5 major bowls on new year's day, thus bringing back the excitment of New Year's day bowls, and eliminating all these mismatches..........

Out of the 5 winners, you pick the 2 highest rated BCS teams, and have a PLUS-ONE format..........There sitll could be a couple of teams feeling ripped off, but that would be the most accurate way of doing it, while keeping the Bowl format, actually enhancing the bowls, to the way they used to be..........

Sounds like a great plan to me...........:zeitung_lesen:

The only time I care about the Rose Bowl is when it hosts the real National Championship matchup. Not this year...

Bowls have to be the last game you play in imo to keep them important and keep the tradition.

I think we'll see the plus 1 in the near future...it is the best solution. It keeps the same format but uses a different formula to get the best desired results. good night all.
