Anyone see any positives about the 2008 Vols?

Well he is freshly fired and appears to be headed to court if he expects to get any more of that $4 million he thinks Al Davis owes him.

Rumors are that Syracuse or Clemson might be interested in him, I doubt he would be around long enough on Rocky Top to ever put any roots down.

The defense. The young defensive ends. Gerald Jones, Denarius Moore in the limited opportunities he's gotten, Lennon Creer, Montario Hardesty. Would like to see Ahmad Paige with a chance. Hope Stephens is the answer at QB. Was so high on Crompton before the season.

What ever happened to Hancock??

I heard Wes Brown in an interview answering how did it feel to get that recent sack and he said; "like a bird had been taken off my back." (I guess he meant a boo bird.)

Remember what Neuheisel said before the season started when addressing UCLA fans??

I was QB on a UCLA team that started 1-3-1 but went on to win the Pac-10 conference title and play in the Rose Bowl.

For knowledgable fans, there has been a number of positives/potential positives. I think that is what is making the situation worse. Its not like we are just outclassed and hopeless. People can try to claim we were blown out in the Florida game, but its flat out not true. Twice inside the 5 and no points. Defense was solid. We see a QB that is soo bad that it wipes away so many positives. The potential is there (and in a year where Georgia and Florida already have a loss, wow what a opportunity). Offensive line has looked quite good. Running game has looked good under the circumstances. I dont care who we have running/blocking there is nothing you can do against 8 and even 9 man fronts on defense. Gerald Jones, Hardesty, and Creer look like they are more than capable of being very good SEC players. Defensive secondary is full of play makers. Defensive line has been very good against the run. DE's need to step up (and they did show some signs last game). Wilson has filled the void at MLB more than adequately. Plenty of positives and that is what makes the QB play so frustrating. We could be in the drivers seat in the SEC East right now, or at least very much in the race.

Positive is we did not lose a game weekend of 06Sep. Other then that, it's been a struggle.

We've dwelt at length on every imaginable flaw, anyone see anything good about this team??

Yes. Before Auburn figured out that UT really didn't have a passing game, UT's run game was effective.

I mistakenly defended Crompton and still think the receiver play could have been better... but they have definitely improved and did all that was necessary for UT to win in a blowout against Auburn.

The D has been solid. Three of UF's scores were set up by a fumble, kick return for a short field, and a kick return for TD. Had the O been decent, there's a decent chance UT would have allowed UF's powerful O less than 20 offensive points.

If the O had been able to hold the ball against UCLA, they wouldn't have scored more than 14 against UT's D.

Wow, a well-thought-out objective, non-emotional evaluation of the season so far. Dont see that much around these parts.

Martin and Walker will be All SEC sometime in there career..
thank GOD for some good DE's again !!! :)

our secondary has loads of talent.. but i'm actually a lil dissapointed in morley.. i thought he wouldn't be getting beat as much..

our LB's look fast like always, and are ball hawks..

our WR's show speed, especially Moore when he gets the ball.. he is definately faster than Taylor and even Jones..
Moore needs to be our 3rd WR ahead of Briscoe IMO

our line is doing okay.. too many false start and holding penalties tho..

RB's look good, except for foster..

QB sux nuts.. i really dont see why Nunes would leave, especially when he knows he could be the starter from day 1.. but o well..

Berry is the next Polamalu, or Bob Sanders with height.

Twice inside the 5 and no points.

:swoon3:

Defense was solid.

(248 ttl yds by the vaunted Fla spread. 53% completion rate by their Hypesman QB)

The potential is there (and in a year where Georgia and Florida already have a loss, wow what a opportunity).

:victory:

Offensive line has looked quite good. Running game has looked good under the circumstances.

:clapping:

Plenty of positives..........(I can think of a few more but beer thirty beckons)

Yes. Before Auburn figured out that UT really didn't have a passing game, UT's run game was effective.

Man was it ever a bummer that our QB and WRs couldn't make the same read on any given play, real bummer.

We have pi$$ed away three wins we should have had.:banghead2:

Our entire sophomore class on offense and defense. Maybe Stevens will develop into a solid SEC quarterback and lead this group of sophomores to where they deserve to be. Our running scheme looks good when we use it, and our defense looks good, i think Chavis finally sees we can man up and play ball.

Until the team has faith in the coaches they will not try. They are not playing inspired UT football

To whom would you be addressing such drivel???

Until the team has faith in the coaches they will not try. They are not playing inspired football.

It would appear the team has more faith in their coaches than the fans have in the team.

If the team is looking for inspiration, it would appear they shouldn't be looking to a certain segment of Vol fans.

Did you even watch the Auburn game? They were inspired and the effort was certainly good enough to win. The defense was flying around like crazy. The offensive line and RBs were running hard until Auburn had 9 guys in the box in the second half and it got a little frustrating for them because we could not complete a pass.

UCLA second half. We have athletes on defense, and luckily for us the offenses of the SEC are not exactly world-beaters this year. God forbid somebody actually re-scheme us in the middle of a game, then we are screwed.

The defense is faster this year.
Hardesty remains healthy.
The secondary is as good as advertised.
