Threw one the 1st or 2nd series against UGA. Defenders shed their blocks in about half a second. O-line coaching is garbage so it fits this regime.

Everytime we run one it's like the entire defense knows it. We actually tried 2 today, slow screen passes don't work against good defenses. We need a Qb that can throw it downfield and can throw a slant where the guy can run with it. Come to think of it, the thing our defense has the most trouble with is defending the slants. I can see why because we sure can't throw the quick slant on offense, much less the deep or intermediate slant..GBO!

I would ask why with such a high $ OC that we are not running double screens and middle screens, like many NFL teams do.
Our creativity in the formations and play calling this year reminds me of the years with Sanders as OC.

Gray scored on one against Mizzou. The only one I can think of this season that has worked.

With our Oline, we shouldn't have to rely on screens, jet sweeps, and 4 yard out routes.

I'm more perplexed as to why all quick throws over the middle have been taken out of the playbook. Watching out defense, you would think slants are unstoppable. Not sure why we can't try that.

My guess is JG has problems with screens. He's not known for touch pass especially on short passes. Last thing you want on a screen is one of his typical "as hard and high as I can throw it" balls which will likely bounce off a receiver's hands for a pick.

Every screen we throw is 20 yards straight across the field and 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. By the time the ball gets there the D has read the play and blows it up.

I am convinced there are certain pass plays/routes the OC avoids like the plague because they don't trust JG to execute i.e. slant routes. Is the screen one of them, who knows..

Yes, I believe I was at the drive-in and the AM radio had some static so I'm not sure what decade that was

Do you know why it was blown up? Because that was the first time all game we had shown the trips wide bundle.... all three receivers were within a two yard area. Of course they are going to cue on that. I called it from my couch as soon as they lined up. Along with everything in our football program, Chaney has been a huge disappointment this year with play calling.

JG had trouble throwing screens. Seemed to throw them high, hard, and not exactly forward, so if the back didn't catch it, it was technically a fumble. So I'm glad we don't run screens if that's the result.

For screens to be effective, they have to respect our downfield passing game, which obviously they don’t.
