Anyone know why Bray...

Negative, he cannot still be redshirted. The only possible way he could now would be to somehow have a medical issue and get approved for a medical redshirt. The people who say you have to play a certain percentage of snaps...blah blah blah... are wrong and don't understand the rules of redshirting.

Please, by all means, explain the rules.

Ding Ding Ding.....You are correct sir. Tyler is shot unless they can prove that he developed a medical issue from those few snaps in the UTM game.

Is that a clarification that adds something new to the quote just above it from PJ?

I hope Coach Dooley goes after a big time QB in either this class or the next. I've got a sickening feeling that Tyler and his parents will not be in Knoxville. I am hearing a lot of scuttlebutt that he wants to go back and play on the West Coast.

As I stated, he can still get a red-shirt. The possibility of an injury (of any kind) is not limited to the UTM game.

didn't get any reps when the game got out of hand?

Because Simms needs as many reps as possible at this point regardless of the score.

Apparently the competition isn't all that close. Bray has more physical ability but he will have to make the adjustment to college and the college game before he can be really effective.

Do you guys really think Simms will improve enough by next year to help us actually win something? I sure don't. ...

I am not sure how far off he is right now. Remember who he's throwing to. He's got one experienced guy right now. He's got another guy whose catch total Sat equaled his total all of last year and almost doubled the yardage from last year... then he's got three very green, very talented Fr.

The big mystery to me is why he isn't throwing to the TE's and why the passing game isn't featuring those guys. He got the RB's involved which was good. But where are the TE's?

What I'm saying is that you can't just automatically get a medical because you ask for it or want it. It simply doesn't work that way. If it did, every team would play true freshmen for a few games to get them some reps and then find a nick or injury and request and receive a medical. It's not a given that you get a medical because you want one.

So, you're not saying medical red-shirts are rare? I'm confused.

I know what you're saying. I'm just giving you a hard time. Thanks for making things cloudier...:)

Sorry if you thought I was being a wise guy. I have just met a lot of people that don't understand the redshirt rule. Again, sorry Hobock if you think I'm being a wise guy.

Post often. Level-headedness is a welcome addition to the board.

Bottom line is you don't take your starter out during a butt-whipping unless you are ready to fire him. Unless he is the sole reason for the loss, you have to let him ride it out and learn to be the leader in good times and bad. Although Simms made his share of mistakes, this loss belongs to the whole team. You leave him in and let him get the full experience so the next time you are down going into the 4th quarter he remembers it and does something to avoid getting the feeling again.

Terrible? If he was terrible I would love to hear your opinion on Simms. All but like 1 of his throws where way off, our receivers just made plays on the catches we had.

The thing I liked the most is who his first 2 passes, also completions, went too. Stocker is one of the best, if not the best offensive option we have and Bray not Simms got him involved.

The kid looked like a deer in headlights. So he completed two passes to stocker...big deal. He threw the pick over the middle two a wr that had three guys covering him. He about had another pick on a throw to Justin Hunter where the blitz came off the edge and he just slung it up, Hunter had to play db for a few seconds or that would have been a pick. For anyone who actually understands the game of football its clear that he needs a little work in reading defenses and adjusting to the speed of the college game. Is he more athletic than Simms...I believe so. Will he be better than Simms...I believe so. However, right now, the best chance that we have to win is with Simms no matter how much anyone on this board likes it. I certainly think if Bray honestly gave us the best chance to win right now that Dooley and Chaney would have him in the game.

They're in the middle of the field where he is verboten to throw. At least, verboten last Saturday.
