Anyone know about Auburn RV parking?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the RV scene in Auburn. I hear they're the "RV capital" of the country but the website isn't all that helpful and neither are the people in the parking office.

I'm bringing down an RV Friday afternoon. If it's first-come-first-serve, will a spot on campus be hard to find? The map on their website makes it seem like there's tons of space but the woman on the phone had no idea when they fill up.

I'd appreciate any tips y'all have.

I went 2 years ago and got there Thursday, there were a ton of spaces left, but by Friday afternoon it was pretty well full except for the spots by the portable bathrooms

Yeah, their website says that some spots open to the public on Wednesdays while other spots open up on Friday. So I called their parking department and got absolutely zero information on when the lots typically fill up. I did this at Florida last year and the people there were very helpful.

Anyone else have any info?

Hate to break the news to you but roping off parking the day before the game has been happening ever since I can remember tailgating and that is knocking on the door of 35 years.
I have never seen or heard of visiting fans having any more issues finding tailgating there then they would anywhere else. I have been to a lot worse places away in that regard.

As to the RV question, I wish I could help you more. Almost all of the RV parking real close to the stadium is season pass reserved. I will ask around and see what I can find out for you.

Pull in, park where you want but just be sure to cover the wheels with underpin! You wont have any problems!

I know of no other school in the SEC that allows reserving of tailgate and parking spots the day before a game.

we didn't have any problem finding a place to tailgate in 03, on Saturday morning.

I went to Gainesville last year, and you just park on campus the morning of the game, a few blocks from the stadium---there were tons of spots, first come, first serve. I go to all away games.

The ones in Auburn are first come first served as well. It's just most people get there in some shape, form or fashion on Friday.

But in Auburn, you can show up on Friday afternoon, put rope or tape around some big tailgate area and parking spot, then leave and show up the next day to claim your space. In G'ville, Athens, K'ville, etc.---this is not allowed. That was my only point.

Technically it is not allowed in Auburn but I think there would be a storming of the gates if it was enforced at AU. It won't be much longer before there will not be any on campus tailgating anyway. The university has been phasing more and more of it out each year over the last 5.
I will not speak to Knoxville or G'ville because I have not been there since 2004 and 2002 respectively but I am in Athens for a ballgame at least once a year and I see plenty of folks roping and taping areas off on campus Friday afternoon.

we had a great spot on the corner of Wire Rd and W Thatch Ave. it was located in some fraternity yard and we didn't have to show up on Friday to get it.

Thanks for all the great responses.

So I'm just gonna be down there around 2:00 on Friday and assume there will be plenty of spaces for me to park my RV. I hope I'm right.

At UGA, you can't even begin to set up any tailgating on campus before 7AM on Saturday! No roping allowed there at all. The stuff below is from the UGA website.

Tailgating Regulations

No tailgating setups before 7 a.m. on Saturday.

* The University of Georgia is an institution of higher education for more than 33,000 students. No one wants someone partying in their neighborhood before 7 a.m. The campus is the “neighborhood” for UGA students, and we hope our fans will respect that.
* People will still be able to park cars in legal spaces in advance, and arrive before 7 a.m. on campus, as long as they don’t begin creating noise and setting up tailgate equipment before 7 a.m.

I understand what the rule says.

I also understand that the posted speed limit on the interstate is 65 mph.
