I am a brother of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity at UT and it was the best decision of my life. I don't know how it is in other fraternities, but I feel like I have group of brothers that if I called them at any time they would be there to help them me.

Bingo, same with me:)

If paying hundreds of dollars a semester in order to hang out with a group of guys is your idea of a "best decision", then I truly feel sorry for you.

Exactly. It's sad that these "men" pay so much money for friends and a sense and false security. What's funny is they think this makes them better than people who aren't in a fraternity.

This is how it is with my friends and family. I don't even have to pay membership fees!

What makes it sad is they think that living through their "Pledge" year is some kind of test of manhood. Send those same kids through Beast, USMA Plebe Year, Paris Island, Basic at Ft. Benning, Ranger School, etc, and they will come home with nothing to show but their tears and an LOM statement.

this thread is not intended for people to bash them, do you guys that werent in one have small mans disease? Sure seems that way? You sure make it feel like you missed out on something by making smart ass comments on this thread.
Gee sorry you dont like the fact that i have some life long friends and hung out with hot classy chicks and drank beer and had wild parties you werent invited too. I'd be pissed too if all I had where the left overs from Humes hall to choose from or some skank from east Knoxville that hang out at Iveys.
Now I personnally dont have anything against anyone that wasnt in one I just enjoyed my time there.
You started this arguement so dont get mad at me responding.

Now I will repeat my question, if you where in one please respond otherwise keep your smartass comments to yourself.

Actually, I don't go looking for girls at "wild" college parties. Good luck with that. I'm sure they're classy.

That's odd. I have some life-long friends. I've hung out with hot chicks. I've drank beer. I've also been to some wild parties. Hmmmm... but I saved a few thousand by not being in a fraternity.

Yeah, I guess you could say I am a "smartass".

You keep bringing up the money you saved by not joining a fraternity, but it is actually cheaper for me to live in the fraternity house than pay for a dorm or an apartment.

Don't feel sorry for me, it was my decision and I feel like it was a great one.

i was never in fraternity because I played baseball at different school. but alot of my friends were in. THey were alot more open about their friendships, their, motivation, their, ambitions toward life. I see nothing wrong with fellowship and learning and meeting new friends for life. for all those that think it is a way of buying friends, so what, A friend is a friend is a friend no matter how you got them.. Lets not forget the dedication, ambition and motivation., perserverence one has to endure when entering a FRAT or SOR. either way has there down talks but, at the end you made people like and love you and that love will never be taken away from them.. again no fraternity here, but was always accepted as a brother or friend for visiting those wanting to be certain group. Its great to be a Tennessee VOL

What I find evident is your extreme lack of intelligence. Go back to your beer, whores, and spanking of your "brothers".

:good!:

:mf_surrender: come on admit it, you tried to get in one and you didnt get a bid now your taking it out on this thread just :mf_surrender:

You just continue to prove your ignorance. It's people like you that have me helped form my opinion on fraternities. Keep making your peers proud.

Here's something you might find amusing. I have a couple of good friends from high school who are in Sigma Chi here at our university. We've had this conversation several times. The funny thing is they handle themselves with much more class than you, and they're 21 years old. And you, at 37 years, can't handle yourself tastefully at all.
