Hyams reportedly said that he got a 3rd round projection, so he is probably returning.

He said this on the radio ... so no link yet.

if he plays like he did against Wisconsin, there is no doubt in my mind. He had a personal vendetta against Donovan. He just made it his goal to pummel him. I wish we could get Tebow on a few of those. Might have to wait for Chris Donald. Haha.

Thats what Hyams is speculating. If I were Mayo I would buy an insurance policy, come back next year and destroy Tim Tebow.

I have really liked Jerod ever since I saw an interview with him and Fulmer. Fulmer talked about what a great locker room presence he was. I think we might need a few more Mayo's before we get good again

And a couple of Hendersons and Haynesworths certainly wouldn't hurt.

Please don't post anything positive. Please stick with the negative. Thank you and good day.

I heard the same thing this morning. He said a third round pick isnt worth passing up his senior year. We got the mayo for another year baby!

I think he should follow Fulmer's advice of: Unless you're projected to be a top 20-25 pick, don't forgo your Senior Year. If he comes back and repeats this year, he could easily be the top, if not in the top 3 of LBs taken next year.

3rd round is not good enough for him......

a RANDOM EXAMPLE:

1st round: 4 yr contract - $4mill/yr, 2mill bonus

3rd round: 3 yr contract - $2mill/yr, .5mill bonus

If Mayo can improve his status (I think he will), then the choice is rather obvious. The only drawback is injury.

Foster projected higher than Mayo seems off to me. Interesting.

$2mill/year for a 3rd round pick? I didnt think it was even that high.

I was just using random numbers. I'm not sure. All I know is there's a big difference.

I am pretty sure the difference is much more significant than than. Its certainly enough of a difference to make it worth it to come back and improve your stock.

All these projections the guys are getting are without combine numbers. The combine makes all the difference in the world on draft day.

not for guys like Foster and Mayo, who are unlikely to be athletic freaks. They are going to fall back on their body of work.

Some real #s:

"Third-Round Pick Agrees to Contract With Bears

Rookie running back Garrett Wolfe became the first player selected in last month's NFL draft to agree to a contract with his team.

Wolfe, a Northern Illinois product taken in the third round, agreed to a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears worth just less than $2.3 million, including a signing bonus of $623,000."

Giants first-round draft pick Aaron Ross signs 5-year contract

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -New York Giants first-round draft pick Aaron Ross reported to training camp on Friday with a five-year, $13 million contract.

The cornerback from Texas will receive $8 million guaranteed under the deal that he signed on Thursday.

So your saying that the projections you got are accurate?? I don't think so. There have been alot of people that have improved or hurt their draft projections because of exceptional or poor combine numbers.

Excellent research. I thought the size of the contract would be further apart. But the important difference is the guaranteed money. Huge drop off in guaranteed money.

Mayo would certainly fit into the category of 'athletic specimen' when it comes to combines. His combo of size, speed, and strength are very impressive.
