Anyone hearing anything on Brazell? [arrested for driving on suspended license]

I’ve always thought arresting for driving on a suspended license is stupid. Just tow the friking vehicle and issue a ticket. People shouldn’t be going to jail over it.
It’s an arrest that leads to discovering other violations once you verify identity at jail intake.

I’d imagine they’re doing more of it between RealID and immigration enforcement.

Arrested for a suspended license? Lmao, KPD was really out protecting and serving UT athletes this weekend. Failure to appear in Blount County over nothing offenses. This should have been handled internally and UT AD should be informing them of that.

Cops should drive around with square readers and you should know the amount/be able to pay ticket for traffic infraction on the spot if fines are going to get you arrested. But that would decrease income for the racket.

LSU and Auburn both had players arrested this weekend. On a related note, what happened to the Vandy players arrested over the rape charges a few years back? And, anyone have knowledge of AJ Johnson these days. His incident likely cost him a decent shot at an NFL career. Sad...
The Vandy boys are in prison I believe. And AJ Johnson has had a pretty good NFL career after he won his case.

Tell that to the young white mother with no criminal history who simply can’t afford $400/month car insurance who’s living paycheck to paycheck who’s just trying to get her kids to the sitter so that she can show up to work so that she doesn’t lose her job. All because she had a broken tail-lite.

This is my story. It was years ago and I’ve gotten my life together since, but I had to beg and plead with that a$$hole of a cop to not arrest me and beg a friend of mine to come get me and take me to work. Then spend the rest of my day trying to figure out how I was going to come up with the $250 to get my car back. For a friking tail light

I can understand arresting for it in the case the person has prior DUI’s, was driving recklessly, caused an accident, is undocumented, etc. But they should NOT be arresting people over it for little infractions and moving violations. Period. There’s a lot more effed up things going on in this world the police’s attention would better well be served.

I think it's amusing that you call other posters "dumb". Bless your heart.
I have been a part of this board for many years and he is one of two posters I have on ignore. If you do not agree with him or prove him wrong he starts calling names and insults.

I'm sympathetic but my kid got rear ended by a good kid and a good driver who just screwed up but had no insurance. I'm not blaming the kid who felt awful and made a mistake but my kid ends up with a totaled (beater) car and no way to get another one because he didn't have "uninsured driver" insurance.

Net result: two good kids without cars nor money to get another one.

That's not good for anyone and really just a simple mistake, second of distraction accident from a good kid with no insurance. I couldn't sue a kid like that but that's what the insurance wanted to happen.

Oh it doesn’t matter even if he did have the uncovered motorist on his insurance. I got hit in the drop-off line taking my kid to school one morning a few years ago. Dude side-swept me as my daughter was getting out of the car. Yeeted his kid out of his truck and took off. I got his tag number, reported it to police and my insurance. They found the guy, he was insured, but I still ended up having to pay my deductible. Insurance is a scam.

God forbid that cops enforce the law. It's people like you that I can't stand. Talk crap about cops doing their jobs but as soon as you're getting robbed, who do you call? Pathetic

I'm not certain but in my last accident, I was cut a check for the deductible I paid after the insurance guys squeezed his insurance.

I'm not here to defend insurance. It's risk management. I had a home I owned outright with zero insurance on it and it was the scariest period of my life (thankfully short) because a simple trip on a rock, fall, hit wrong, paralysis and I'm possibly bankrupt because of the accident. That's not a good risk for my family's future and remains my stupidity for taking it though nothing happened.

The same with a momentary vehicle accident. God Forbid that clown that hit you was uninsured and sideswiped your daughter instead of your car. Not only would he find jail time, you might have a critically injured daughter AND life changing medical bills that aren't your fault at all.

I know, I’m glad I have them, but it is still really infuriating to pay for something that isn’t your fault. In my case, my insurance company at the time (Geico) basically came back and said that the other guy’s insurance was refusing to pay out eventhough he was at fault. So no refund check for me.

When did they start going after speeders in Knoxville?

😬
I got one driving through in 2002. My youngest had started screaming for his Mom because he was hungry and had a set of lungs. I was looking for an exit fast. THP had no mercy. But, Knoxville showed mercy and gave me a Prayer for Judgement.

The worst thing about this is that he had to be arrested due
to his history of not showing up for court.

If you miss one court date then there’s a B warrant. They don’t have the discretion to let you go the next time you get caught. This isn’t Gwinnett County Georgia or NYC.

I get it and I get not being able to keep vehicle insurance particularly as I've had SR-22 issues in my family which was nightmarish for them in trying to stay sober, employed, and fed.

For me, it's risk. I've not had an accident that was my fault in decades (knocking on my head which seems mostly wooden) but I am on the interstate enough to know I could kill someone pretty easily with just a small mistake.

Be safe out there and I try to respect the guys and gals in uniform doing what your family does AND the ones I meet more often also risking their lives for my safety.
