Congrats on the dumbest comment in the thread! The challenge was daunting, but you nailed it! Football over everything? Its far better for a university financially to be really good at everything because it increases your exposure and revenue streams. You would never understand basic economics and logic thoughI ought to. I don’t care if it’s one percent. It’s too much. Football above all else. It’s inexcusable that we’re not doing our utmost to fund a championship
Heard it here first: women's sports are pointless, and are holding back the football team from a championship.Congrats on the dumbest comment in the thread! They might have been right in the past but now have a seperate NIL for the women if they're interested
Our women's basketball program should be afforded the funds to get us back among the nation's elite. For ****s sakes, our basketball court is named after arguably the GOAT of women coachesI think - or thought at least - I read that the "separate NIL" thing evaporated with the hiring of the new coach. The two big NIL outfits were not supporting them before, as I understood it, but the arrangement changed with the transition. Paraphrasing from memory, I remember seeing some kind of statementfrom Danny White that the new staff would have all the support needed to be competitive in NIL.
And in what was not at all a coincidence, I'm sure, they've also assembled a top 3 recruiting class for next year. Funny how that works.
After next year we will know more about Nico. The problem is, him, his family and handlers are all acting like he is an established commodity instead of a struggling rookie QB, who might never catch on. I know I'm in for some message board flak and push back, but if any of this is true they should let him pursue other offers. Heupel has two four star backup QB's and a transfer portal he can turn to find the starter for next season.
Just like it did with worker unions after they were created. It's a lot to take in but I don't blame parents, kids, or even their agents. It's their right to earn money and if they can get more then more power to them. That's literally capitalism. I'm loyal to myself and the work I know how to do. If someone pays me more and has a good situation for helping secure my family's future then that's where I'm going.
With that said, the NCAA had years to figure this system out but did nothing. Money has been on college sports for literal decades but they kept claiming some high moral standing while making millions. Then the court case came and the judge gave them a literal timeline to figure it out. Still the NCAA did nothing. It's going to take the SEC and B1G being the adults in the room and figure out a system that works. The NCAA has been useless for years and now that they are in their final days there's a power vacuum. The pendulum swung heavily in favor of the athletes.
There are still and will continue to be instances of loyalty in college football similar to what you described. Forcing an American citizen to not be allowed to leave somewhere, not allowing them to use their name in the free market to make money, and providing no physical compensation is owed what level of loyalty? If I forced you to stay at my house and don't allow you to leave without great consequence is that loyalty that you stay for or is it fear of the unknown that keeps you around? Players have always left ball clubs, always.Of course there was loyalty. If there’s no loyalty, then why did Peyton Manning come back for his senior season? And play most of that 1997 Orange Bowl with a inflamed sac in his knee that needed draining both before and after the game? What other reasons would there have been to endure that?
Loyalty was real for a long time. But modern pro sports did away with loyalty ages ago, and now college has followed suit. People just don’t value it much anymore - and that applies to almost everyone.
Correct. But it seems like too many hard working families care more about Starbucks and other things. I mean I guess $25 a month is just way too much money to spend to help the football program out.The obvious solution here is to ask hardworking Tennessee families to donate more money to the football team.

Yes, let him walk! My worry is all of this just destroys team chemistry with only a few making outrageous amounts of money and some teammates getting nothing. I guess it's always been done though, just now it's all out in the open. The problem is, him, his family and handlers are all acting like he is an established commodity instead of a struggling rookie QB, who might never catch on. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be blue font or if you’re just clueless. Hooker routinely drags the program through the mud to generate clicks. His buddy Calhoun said Tenn was screwed when all of the court battle was going on. Errant, ill informed takes are what he does generally.I heard it from Dave Hooker(Hardly a guy that likes to crap on UT sports) who is quite confident of his sources.![]()
Men’s basketball team hopes you don’t watch, especially after falling to Vanderbilt by 1. Baseball team would like to remind you of a championship and the softball team went back to back SEC titles. You ought to be reminded sometimes of the titles on The Hill not named football.I ought to. I don’t care if it’s one percent. It’s too much. Football above all else. Yeah. I don’t think this is accurate. The discussions were not about money, but about what changes will be made to improve the offense. Is Will West usually one breaking this kind of info? Not sure i remember him being an insider
True or not, he's not helping UT football with this mess. So glad our local media is on our side
