Anyone have a serious top 3 list for O.C.

Well Matthews comments are making sense now Cignetti did not fit in his description. Chow or Gus are really the only two who do. I am going to say Chow. And I am just guessing.

Why would Chow take a step backwards? That is just wishful thinking.

Chow has never been mentioned as a candidate by anybody by internet fans. Chow will not be the guy.

Chow actually responded to interest from UT and UCLA, saying his name should not be considered or something like that so he was mentioned beyond just internet fans. Chow could of been a HC if he wanted to I do not think he is interested in that. The only reason I would even think it as real is because of Matthews comments. If true it only leaves Gus and Chow.

Crowton was an NFL OC and a college HC and he went back to being an OC in college. I was lawyer and loved teaching so I am a teacher. Some people do things because they love it and they love success.

And Crowton and other pro candidates.

Matthews said it was someone who had been mentioned in the news did he not?

I believe he said it was someone's name that's been "out there," which could mean anything. Again, I read every UT article everyday, and Chow has never been a candidate.

And for that matter, I don't believe Malzahn or Crowton have been mentioned as candidates by anybody expect fans.

The Offensive Coordinator search reminds me of the game Clue. "An unsolved mystery with the usual suspects"

I really believe Matthews thought we had gotten Spence with the second offer.

Never was impressed with Rob Spence at Clemson. Was he tied up with Bowden to much, where he never could do what he wanted?

It is a nice showing but let's remember it's against Bowling Green which is hardly a SEC caliber defense.

let's remember that Tulsa doesn't exactly have the same caliber of players as Tennessee does either though.

edit: Fumbles by the other team really help out a lot too though....

Fair enough, but I just believe 'the system' can overcome a lot against teams/conferences that are weak defensively.

what would you describe as his "system"?

My only fear with gus is that he would shy from running the ball. Wouldn't be new to UT as of late, but i'll always prefer a power running game.

He has a thousand yard runner and one with 500 right now. I think he ran the ball at Arky. He is not Meyer. He is the real deal.

he didn't want to run the ball at Arky though. Let's not get into the mess he created there.

I also wouldn't call one year at Tulsa enough to make him the real deal.

How many championships does he have compared to Meyer?

Yeah you are right when he had the rains he was 8-0 and the fans wanted him to be head coach. That jerk. Then when the coach benched one of the best coaches and QBs in college and shut down his offense except for the wild hog the players Nutt promised a Malzhan's offense would be used left. Gus is simply unbelievable. Does he even have ethics?

you're totally missing the point, but i'm not in the mood to argue... Read up on Malzhan's antics at Arky.

I don't have a fancy catch phrase to describe it such as 'spread option' if that's what you are asking.

His book is titled "Hurry Up No Huddle — An Offensive Philosophy" if that helps. :)
