Schweitzer's speech was a hammer though.
I thought both he and Hillary did a good job. There wasn't much substance to either speech, but it's basically just a pep rally anyway.

It's funny to me though how the party was somehow deeply divided but I'm supposed to believe that a 15 minute speech from Hillary Clinton just solved all of that.

That's what I would have called it also, just a pep rally. Spot on.

I was on the road and listening to the speeches on XM. It was almost comical to hear the spin Fox News put on it vs. what CNN was saying. I thought it was a good speech but not exactly Lincoln-esque. FNC had it as falling short due to there being no personal endorsement. CNN had it as the greatest speech since Jesus spoke from the Mount.

I wouldn't go as far as a sermon on the mount speech but I think Hillary was effective at doing what she was asked to do for the good of the party. In a sense I think both FNC and CNN got it right to an extent.

She was able to link herself to the party and its endeavors, for instance womens rights. In this way she was able to keep herself relevant and strong in the eyes of her base so she could run again in four years if the opportunity presents itself.

She asked her people to vote for Obama and openly criticized McCain. She did fall short of addressing Obama's qualifications which is probably the most significant problem he has now. In the end though it is not her job to do so but you could tell she did not go the extra mile for him.
