Anyone excited about a Phillips and Estrella front line next season?

Frontcourt on paper could be really good.

Felix, Cade, JP and Brown (top 100ish player incoming).

Amari Evans appears to be a Mashack type player who may be a bit further along offensively than Shack was out of HS. He's also listed at 6'5" already...could be really special

We're going to be looking to add guards/wing forwards for sure though in the portal it seems.

HS guys that are still out there

Brayden Burries 6'4" combo guard
Chance Mallory 5'9" point guard
Nate Ament 6'9" power forward (stretch 4)

We also had Matthew Able in on March 1st... 6'5" shooting guard, no clue how in that race we are though
Ament isn't coming here. I know you just listed him as a possibility, but it sounds like he's not even that at this point.

Yeah, I'm kind of curious if his decision has a ripple effect.

Caleb Wilson is a hard commit to UNC, but didn't sign yet. I'm wondering if Ament picks the Tar Heels would Wilson change his mind? We made his top 5 and he never even took an official to UNC.

Of course Ament didn't have UNC in his final 5 or 11 even so wishful thinking on my part

Oh go f yourself. I didn't write that as a "backhand" to ZZ. I have absolutely no agenda against the guy. All my posts on him all year have been positive as he//. I just happen to think what I said about him is true.
ZZ is an excellent point guard. I just think his style is not great for getting every single player involved on an offensive possession.
Moreover, it's why we often are stagnant on offense. i.e too much dribbling not enough ball movement.
Again, it's nothing personal against the guy.
He's an excellent kid, and exemplifies what heart is all about when playing the game.
It's simply a critique from an X's and O's standpoint.
I’ll go F myself during your funeral!!

Do we have a deal??

I’m not going back n forth with you! I called you out and that’s that!!

I’m so over you “lame” never achieved anything in life fans!!

You just had to throw a backhand at ZZ huh? I can’t wait for him to graduate and go do great things, and log on here and read yall complaints about the “guard” position.. You entitled to your opinion, but many of you won’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone!
I think it’s a situation where we have had ZZ for so long we take for granted all the things he does well and pick apart things he could do better. We will miss him when he is gone. He has been a great PG for the Vols.

And I respect that!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just can’t sit and watch ppl throw “backhand compliments” at him while also throwing in “good compliments” while also complaining… it’s stupid!!

If a post is to celebrate him, then that can be done without all the extra theatrics! There’s NO perfect basketball player, but ZZ is ours and he can be celebrated without the unnecessary bull crap!

If not UNC, I'd imagine Wilson would likely head to UK.

My dentist, a UK grad and basketball enthusiast, couldn't hardly believe me when I told him ZZ had only been in Knoxville for four years

Huh? Ament isn’t even considering UNC

Exactly. I think this is Boswell’s team next year if he chooses to stay. I hope he realizes that he didn’t get on the floor a lot this regular season because of Ziegler’s ability to play nearly all 40 minutes and Gainey being first guard off bench.

I hope if Barnes stays another year, he lets Boswell know he’s the PG of this team
What did Boswell show (in limited minutes) that makes you think this is "his team" next year? To me, he showed nothing. Timid, loose with the ball, couldn't throw it in the ocean, mistakes on defense. I wouldn't be surprised if he transfers.

My intrigue with Boswell is something Rick specifically mentioned about a week or so ago. Paraphrasing, it was something like, "we're in good hands in the future", mentioning him specifically with another player or two

RB has a pretty good track record of developing 4 year players, but BB has a loooong way to go, especially as a PG.

Yes, I think so too. Rick may see something in him we don't. He mentioned him specifically. For good reason. A knowledge you nor I have on the young player

Point guard has been the focus position for Barnes…. And he has a good track record of developing PG’s. Boswell is obviously talented.

No, you got emotional and then projected all over me.
ZZ isn't above someone critquing his play. No player is, no coach is. Evaluating his game is fair play.
He gets paid well to play here. He's a big boy, unlike you, I'm sure he can take it.

He wouldn't be wearing the jersey if he wasn't talented. The question is can he put it together? I know he's a freshman but there have been a lot of freshmen come through Knoxville that have played a lot better. And I don't mean to trash the kid by no means I'm just concerned if we're hitching our PG wagon to him based off of what I've seen. I hope he takes a big leap next year, we'll need it.

Not overly impressed with any of our returning Bigs offensive moves, at least not yet. Defense is another story. Hopefully all will improve and hit something outside of a dunk

I’m hoping for guards who can penetrate, shoot, handle the rock, and dish. Then again who isn’t looking for those types of players.

Just my opinion and not a expert opinion at that.

Cade continuing to develop and a healthy Estrella could be lethal. Barnes being an "old school" coach might like to see these two guys through, implementing a heavy inside/outside offense????!!

There have not been a lot of a freshmen come thru at PG who have had to play behind an All American type starter.

From what I’ve seen watching him, he is just not very strong with the ball inside. He’s not stronger than his competitors most of the time. He has to rely more on finesse rather than dominance physically.
You’ve seen him as a true freshman and that’s your take?

There aren’t many true freshmen big men who don’t need to add strength. Players get stronger and add muscle weight as their college careers advance, which still comes as a shock to many.
